Subject: Mass Effect 1 master race

It was a pain-in-the-ass climbing all those mountains in the poopoo Mako.

The Mako could scale cliffs for the most part you just sucked at driving it.

It wasnt lacking at all but I agree that the story of ME2 was better. I was just attempting to stop a war over this because both of those stories are very good. ME3 included. But whatever...

If you admit it was better than what is the issue? That means something was lacking in the first that the second resolved.

I've always liked ME2 story the best. I cant admit that, I dont say it with reluctance. But like I said, whatever. I'll continue enjoying all the Mass Effects.

Per Audacia Ad Astra

There was a greater feeling of space exploration; the main thing I'd do in space is explore the unknown.

That feeling diminished.

Some things in this World you just can't explain; but that doesn't mean they are any less true, just that you have to chose to believe in them.

It is almost like some people never save their game.

I started with it, but honestly, i liked 2 the best. It expanded upon 1 in ways that were incredible. And the paragon ending of 2 is awesome

I don't see how Saving game relates to me driving around for an hour.

I save it, but it still takes me an hour, and I still get killed.

Hurr dee freakin' durr.

So long as you aren't talking about the combat.
And the glitches, the performance, the level design, and the inventory.

The saving relates to dying in which case death doesn't mean much if you save often like you should in most RPGs. As for driving around for an hour not really if you actually did it properly like in a grid.

So in others words you were bad at the game.

Mass Effect 2 better in terms of story?

You're joking, right?

Nope ME2 had a better story it really is that simple and by that I am also including things like character development.
Mass Effect 2's main plot was almost non-existent and didn't move the overall plot of the series forward (The Arrival DLC did that better). The only thing I really liked was the fleshing-out of Cerberus and The Illusive Man, and how the organization is portrayed as morally ambiguous; unlike in ME3 where its basically a cookie-cutter villain organization.

I also thought ME2's squadmates to be a little one-dimensional.

How does bad level design, repetitive environments, a horrible inventory, glitches, and terrible performance have anything to do with skill?

The level design wasn't really bad unless you are talking about a lot of the plants lacking variety. As for inventory it was fine and glitches are in every game out there. Then what do you mean by terrible performance?

Constant texture pop-in and frame rate dips. Also trying to buy and sell goods was a pain in the ass because of all of the useless equipment the games throws at you and the bad inventory. And yea sure every game has glitches but the copy I got was pretty damn glitchy.

Again those are in a lot of games and really are nothing to complain about.

No they are. I went through and played all three games during the summer and Mass Effect 1 was a very unstable game especially compared to Mass Effect 2. They actually polished ME2 properly.

  • 12.10.2012 10:28 PM PDT

Just for the record I still like ME 1, its just that it has many flaws.

I would hope it is since ME2 came out 2+ years after ME1 and it was Bioware's first game on the 360 I would hope they were used to the tech more. Though with that being said ME1 was still better.

Extended Cut adds a terminal to the Cerberus base that explains what happened - the Illusive Man, believing that Cerberus had found a way to control the Reapers, implanted himself with Reaper technology to assume control of them. This failed however, and he slowly lost his sanity, completely going over the deep end once Shepard assaulted his base.

I mean, honestly, that his motivation was good at first - he was willing to risk himself to end the Reaper threat and strengthen humanity, but aside from Shepard, a human mind can't resist the power of a Reaper's indoctrination. There's a reason Shepard and others say that the Illusive Man had changed... because he did.

I used to think that but, ME2 is worth playing through more, again and again. Nothing will ever beat that last 6 hours or so of Mass Effect when it picked up on Virmire and continuied right to the end... But you can only get that feeling once. Well, at least I did. The Reaper twist was like waaaaat

Knowing about the Reapers ahead of time kind of made the reveal substantially less of a twist, but I still thought Virmire was pretty amazing and Illos was pretty cool too.

Wort, wort, wort!

The ending of ME1 blows me away like no other Mass Effect ending. ME2's ending was cool using all your assets (the team) to their best, to succeed. Why the -blam!- didn't they do that in ME3? Using the correct assets at the correct time, not having the god child bull-blam!-. Or how about you know, the ending actually being related to the whole plot in ME 1 and ME 2, not just the ME3 one which disregarded quite a -blam!- LOT.
