But this wasn't 2 years, it was occurring at the same instance. Your metaphor is invalid.

My point still stands.

Actually, the people that downloaded it for free shouldn't be allowed to play it. They knew they were taking advantage of a glitch in the system.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA

You know what? I played the maps after I got them for free and they all SUCK ASS.

I dont even want em. You can have em.
*shrug* I don't even have an xbox anymore. This could be any game, it doesn't matter. People took advantage of an error in the system and shouldn't have been able to acquire them for free.

In this case, the system was at fault. If the people downloading the maps had broken any rules to get them, then I would agree. But they didn't.

What use all those incredible firework dimensions if no eye fixes and reflects, no brain takes notes, no heart moves with passion at the display?

NASA answers the silent cry of the Cosmos for recognition.

NASA is the witness and we fellow witnesses to the endless deeps.

I agree completely, and i own the LE. People are getting all riled up because of something like $8. If that small amount of money is such a huge deal then why did you spend $100 on the game when you could have saved something like $15 by just getting the SE and season pass? The LE came with everything it promised, we weren't cheated out of anything.

I honestly feel bad for people that rage about stuff like this. Does money really have such a huge hold on your life, even in such a small amount?

It's not about the money, it's about a perceived inequality.

Well i got the maps for free too, but lets be honest. If you bought the season pass to get all the maps even though EVERYBODY got them free anyway, I'd understand why they'd be upset.

Ten dollars doesnt seem like much, but it could buy a small famy dinner that night.
If your family is going hungry tonight over $10 then you have no business spending $100 on a game. Priorities, people.

Not necessarily a family starving over 10 dollars; it just could have been spent somewhere more important if it was gonna be wasted anyway. Dollars dont seem to go as far anymore.

Not even close. It's like paying for a game that the retailer is giving out free the next day.

No it doesn't you have no concept of business at all. You basically made an invalid Unedjucated statement. Comparing this case to depreciation when really it is false advertisement. I can safely say you have no idea what you are talking about.

They should have their asses banned!

MS bans someone every time they steal from the store, but this time they don't?

The -blam!-.

It's not an exploit and it's not stealing. It was listed as 0Ms points in the marketplace. That's nobody's fault but Microsoft's, and nobody should be punished for their mistake.

I don't want a refund, I want the people who got it for free to have to pay or else they can't access the content.

You fail to see the point in my post, its the same with all the people who complained about TF2 going free.

Halo 2 was the best Halo game
A7x FoREVer!

My biggest complaint has to do with the LE owners getting really screwed out of a deal. Specializations are no longer exclusives, and now one of the three map packs were given to a few thousand people for free. That instantly makes buying the season pass/LE the same price as buying the map packs separately.

This is easily the last time I buy any type of LE.

LOL why?

Because that's the "just" way to resolve the mistake.

The only way they could "resolve" this is to give people who paid some free avatar -blam!-. They're not going to refund them and they're not going to revoke the DLC from those who got it free after what they last posted.

The "just" route to go would be to lock DLC online for those who did not pay until they do so, but the people who paid have been asking for free maps instead of making the free mappers pay, so that would do anything past "Ha ha that's what you get for exploiting"

Just my two cents on the matter. People are saying that they're being treated unequally, but in reality they just missed out on the deal. And now they're blowing it out of proportion, saying things like they could have used the $10 to feed a family. To me, the whole thing is just silly. Yeah, the money could have been better spent elsewhere. You can say that about any money spent on something like videogames. Imagine if every cent you spent on games was turned into college savings. But some people, myself included, decided theyd rather spend the extra cash on the LE.

Like petit said, it's like you bought a game and the next day the store gave it out for free. You're not being treated unfairly, because you're just as welcome to go to the store and grab a second, free copy. You're just upset because you missed the deal.

It's just so trivial. $10 DLC on a videogame and people are outraged, demanding refunds (despite XBL being very clear that DLC is non-refundable) and organizing boycotts.

I payed full price for the LE. I got everything i was promised. Why should i complain when somebody gets something i already have?

No. Those who bought the season pass did so with the intention of getting them cheaper for buying in bulk. Those same people are now paying more than everyone who got the maps for free today because they already payed for them.

Didn't you read the twitter feeds today? Xbox support/microsoft didn't give a flying -blam!- about who exploited it. They said that it was their fault, and whoever got it for free gets to keep it.

Not going to happen. The advertised price from the Halo 4 menu was free, they're not going to make people pay for something that was already "sold" to them.

If a store has the wrong advertised price on an item and a customer brings it to the register, the store is required to sell it to them at that price or it would be false advertising. The same thing applies to this situation. Microsoft advertised the incorrect price, so people that got it at that price should be able to keep it.

If people can't afford to feed their families, then they shouldn't even have an xbox, let alone paying for live, let alone buying halo 4, let alone buying map packs.

Yes however the sku and description of the map pass is to save money and get a deal instead of buying them separately when you give a part away for free especially on the release date it is false and misleading advertisement, not depreciation as you stated. Whether it was a glitch or not Microsoft should be taking away those who did not legally purchase the content. Purchasing dlc is much like a contract to lease the content or use the content. Falsely advertising a product is illegal.
