I don't want a refund, I want the people who got it for free to have to pay or else they can't access the content.

LOL why?

Because that's the "just" way to resolve the mistake.

The only way they could "resolve" this is to give people who paid some free avatar -blam!-. They're not going to refund them and they're not going to revoke the DLC from those who got it free after what they last posted.

The "just" route to go would be to lock DLC online for those who did not pay until they do so, but the people who paid have been asking for free maps instead of making the free mappers pay, so that would do anything past "Ha ha that's what you get for exploiting"

Im exploiting?

How the hell was I suppose to know the maps wernt supposed to be free?

You think every halo player follows 343's every move?

nah sorry. Nobody exploited anything.

It was 10 dollars, get over it.

Well i got the maps for free too, but lets be honest. If you bought the season pass to get all the maps even though EVERYBODY got them free anyway, I'd understand why they'd be upset.

Ten dollars doesnt seem like much, but it could buy a small famy dinner that night.
If your family is going hungry tonight over $10 then you have no business spending $100 on a game. Priorities, people.

Not necessarily a family starving over 10 dollars; it just could have been spent somewhere more important if it was gonna be wasted anyway. Dollars dont seem to go as far anymore.
Just my two cents on the matter. People are saying that they're being treated unequally, but in reality they just missed out on the deal. And now they're blowing it out of proportion, saying things like they could have used the $10 to feed a family. To me, the whole thing is just silly. Yeah, the money could have been better spent elsewhere. You can say that about any money spent on something like videogames. Imagine if every cent you spent on games was turned into college savings. But some people, myself included, decided theyd rather spend the extra cash on the LE.

Like petit said, it's like you bought a game and the next day the store gave it out for free. You're not being treated unfairly, because you're just as welcome to go to the store and grab a second, free copy. You're just upset because you missed the deal.

It's just so trivial. $10 DLC on a videogame and people are outraged, demanding refunds (despite XBL being very clear that DLC is non-refundable) and organizing boycotts.

I payed full price for the LE. I got everything i was promised. Why should i complain when somebody gets something i already have?

/thread.

Valid argument, but nobody knew that there would be a glitch, though you're implying that(in the hypothetical situation) everyone knew the game would be free the next day.

I got it through the War Games Pass, but I do agree that those who did pay should be refunded or those who got it for free should be charged. It's a problem with the Marketplace and you're exploiting it to get free content when others rightfully paid for it. It isn't fair.

You're not going to get refunded.

Worst case scenario is they lock it for those who didn't pay, and there goes half the people in matchmaking.

And yet, i'm not upset at all.

Please, show me where on the LE it says i'm saving money this way, or that nobody else would get a better deal, or that the DLC would never be free.

I'm already upset that 343 promised Halo 4 and delivered Halo Reach 2.0, so I don't bother playing it anymore.

Which might be the case, I'm sure they know who really paid and who didn't.

Actually I'm talking about the separate season pass not the limited edition. In case you want proof this is a direct quote from the game marketplace. " content includes crimson, majestic and castle map packs plus 2 in game helmets and an emblem at a special value."

Thats really good for the game population then isnt it.

People who got it for free, get it taken away, get mad, and quit halo.

Not going to happen. The advertised price from the Halo 4 menu was free, they're not going to make people pay for something that was already "sold" to them.

If a store has the wrong advertised price on an item and a customer brings it to the register, the store is required to sell it to them at that price or it would be false advertising. The same thing applies to this situation. Microsoft advertised the incorrect price, so people that got it at that price should be able to keep it.
Did you see the word want in my post? Yup. Never said that that's what was going to happen, just what I think is just.

  • 12.10.2012 8:35 PM PDT

I'm not asking for a refund. I got it for free and was going to get it for free anyways cause I got the LE. The thing is, the scenario that had just happened is just giving the people who did purchase the MP a giant middle finger over a problem that shouldn't have happened in the first place.

No you weren't. You paid for it in advanced when you got the LE, so unless you got that for free you already paid for discounted DLC maps.

The thing is, the scenario that had just happened is just giving the people who did purchase the MP a giant middle finger over a problem that shouldn't have happened in the first place.

Welcome to Halo 4, where problems that shouldn't have happened do.

As far as i'm aware, that doesnt say anything about the DLC never going free or about saving money. Doesn't it just say "Get all three DLCs paid for at once"?

It's just a risk that comes with putting clearly non-refundable money down on something ahead of time. Yeah, you might miss out on a deal. That's a risk.

I'm not sure if you were aware but a special value means at a cheaper price, see quote above.

Not really if i got everything for what i paid for, you pay for a product because you like it and are determined that you are going to pay for that price and anything that happens to it in the future won't matter.

  • 12.10.2012 8:39 PM PDT

I didn't purchase the LE for the War Games pass, that was a free bonus as far as I'm concerned. I get LE's of games and pay the extra dollar because they're LE. I would have gotten the LE even if there wasn't a War Games Pass, so it's still free to me in my eyes.

They have no reason to get mad since those who intended to buy it would be able to do so, and those who didn't wouldn't. Nothing that was expected would be lost. If 2000 people who got it for free had intended to buy the DLC, 2000 people will still buy it if it was revoked till they paid.

If 2500 ended up with DLC but the 500 did not intend to buy it, then the only thing that was lost was the surplus, which only benefits population and not profit.

That's all well and good if that's your mentality, but that's not the way the LE was advertised. The season pass sold separately is $24.99, which was bundled with the LE. You still paid for the maps.

They want to get compensated because other people didn't pay for what they got and/or because they missed out on the opportunity to get something they intended to buy for free.
