It's a third person shooter with good/bad moral choices. So more or less, yeah
Is it really though? When do you get a good or bad moral choice to make? The character gets lots I suppose, but it's not like in RPGs where you make choices and then outcomes are decided on those.

It's pretty much like that. You can either be a moral and good soldier or you can shoot up everyone and be an amoral badass who doesn't play by the rules.

It doesn't effect the story as much until the ending or a few select choices either.

There are a few instances where you can make a kind of good choice.

But you're automatically an -blam!- for playing through the game after Walker(you) just kept making things worse. That was the entire point of the game.

There's no real roleplaying to be done in Spec Ops.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Are you also awful for watching SAW after Jigsaw starts ruining people's lives? I don't understand that argument.

The world is not beautiful: And that, in a way, lends it a sort of beauty.

Nothing spectacular shooting wise, narrative/story was fantastic. A nice change of pace from all the other typical shooters.

At the end, I couldn't shoot. I was just like no more man, no more.

Yeah, like I said. The choices don' effect the story. They just make you feel like an -blam!-.

It's an interesting game, but I wouldn't recommend wasting money on a single playthrough campaign that was "eh" at best.

The name's Ian, Game Designer at Whisper Game Studios, very off-and-on Bungie.net visitor and avid Bungie fan overall. Message me if you wish.

It's constantly being praised as one of the most underrated games of the year simply due to it's gameplay. The story makes the whole adventure worth while. Honestly, it is a renter. The multiplayer is kind of bland from what I heard. I was way psyched for the game because I did like the demo and the story being praised as "The best story in a game since BioShock" was definitely peaking my interests considering BioShock is my favorite game of all time.

The story choices are neat and you don't think about them as choices (as long your soul is untainted by such harrowing considerations, such as mine). I mean a few are quite blatant but there are some points where you kind of just act. Those points are oddly the areas everyone should focus on the most because how you respond to those specific situations is YOUR own primal instinct. And that is always a good thing to learn about yourself. When it comes down to the grit, what are you going to do without thinking? What will be your reflexive reaction? I loved that about the game.

The ending was great, and it's funny because every person to play the game and has been in the military for at least 2+ years, has been able to predict the ending. For me? I had no clue. I was lead on just as Walker was. I was so convinced. Then bam. It makes you think about what you're naturally paying attention to.

The one thing that's hard to do with most people in these kinds of games is trying to ignore any possible bias or moral bias. You kind of have to forget that it's a game and put yourself in the character's shoes if you want to see what you're really like inside. That's the hardest part, but if you can do that, this game will definitely be a great way to see inside yourself.

Or you could just play Day Z alone and see how you'd react in similar circumstances lol.

Spec Ops wanted to make the player reexamine the traditional "murder a thousand 'bad guys' you're a hero!" military shooter mold, and basically point out that you were an -blam!- for ever enjoying it. And that ending was basically one big "F you" to any player who thought they were getting out of their with their honor intact.

You guys do realize that the entire game after the helicopter crash

is a death hallucination/dream by Walker.
