Playing outside the rules over the last month has...
Let me obtain:

$10 for negative feedback.
800 MC points
Halo 4 (release day) for $43
A $120 camera for $40
A 3TB external hard drive for $100
A 120GB SSD for $65
1 New Free Collectors edition Razer Onza controller
1 New Free Razer Onza Controller
1 New Free Turtle Beach Headset
(Note these are not returns/replacements)
Another $15 in profit
About $300 in Paintings for $80 (Sold 4/20 for $60 locally)
And...I'm on a list to receive free stuff from a tech company for leaving feedback over their products.
^ This is how playing outside the rules is beneficial.
On a side note, I'm extremely honest, and on each occasion I have personally notified the staff of their mistakes, and yet nothing seems to get changed. Everything above is also within the boundaries, but outside the rules. Meaning nothing was illegal, you just have to be intelligent.
Also note, as a child I was banned from the Halo forums multiple times for joking around in the "flood" section. That is why my official account has 2 underscores...people get offended, and bans are issued way too quickly by forum moderators...I would know...being a server admin on Minecraft let me realize that any little thing can be a perm bann offense.
I'd also like to share Microsoft has the same type of enforcement:
People get perm bans for incorrect "tenure", "tampering with website avatars (making their skin another color...", and so on. Famous video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuBfEywUleM
