If you're a fullback, stay close to the winger when you're attacking and stay close to the centre-back when you're defending.
Defending wise, you'll mainly be watching the opposing winger, but it's more important to stay close to your centre-backs if the winger drifts out wide. If the other team start moving the ball to the winger (they probably will if you stay in the centre), you'll be able to get close to them by the time they receive it.
If you do go to tackle, usually you shouldn't dive in, unless they still don't have the ball under control. It's best to hold them up. If they beat you with skill, that's well played by them. They'll eventually go backwards if they can't go round you, in which case you've done your job.
