I am a pharmaceutical scientist. I received my Masters degree in Pharmaceutics from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia in 2010, after working as a Pharmacist for 4 years. I currently work in King of Prussia, PA, and focus on the analytical chemistry of small molecule APIs. My clients include some of the most well known big pharma companies in the world.

As of this point, the LE edition is pretty much a big middle finger to fans. The quality of the outer shell is weak, the "exclusive extras" keep being made non-exclusive. I was comparing the Reach LE and Halo 4 LE versions, and the different in quality behind the fan service is astounding.
MS or 343i, whoever it is affecting these decisions needs to up their game.See, I don't understand this sense of entitlement. Elaborate on the problem. I own a LE copy as well, and I don't see where the complaining is coming from.
You paid, in advance for 3 map packs. For a small window of time yesterday, you could have gotten Crimson for free. Only a small minority was A.) aware of this and B.) actually got it for free. These things happen, sure, but this is the downside of paying for unknown content before it's available to the consumer. Be happy for the people who got lucky. How often is it that we can be happy for people getting a surprise like that? It's a $10 value, it's a negligible sum of money.
You're still getting two more map packs that will presumably be $10 a piece when they release. Anyone would be silly to think the same mistake will happen twice.
Then there was the Microsoft code that essentially gifted the Specializations. Big deal, I didn't pay extra money so that I could unlock a specialization early. You can't put monetary value on that.
You still get the LE case, all the contents within, and the Forward Unto Dawn extended cut. Not that this is what people care about, but it adds value over a regular copy of the game.
It's a "buyer beware" market, you can't complain about what you were never promised. This is really just one of those things where if you don't trust a publisher to deliver what you feel is an appropriate compensation for your money, don't give them the money ahead in advance. Whether the maps are good or bad, LE owners already paid for them without doing any research on the quality of said maps.
EDIT: By "promised", I mean that 343i did not "promise" you that non-LE owners would be paying for map packs. It is naturally assumed, but was never explicitly promised.
