Illinois is pretty bad- and you can't possibly say it works.

If you do- just look at homicides in Chicago alone.
Ok, well I hadn't heard of Illinois in relation to firearm laws before. Thanks for clearing that up for me!

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

Don't get too excited, Yorkie. The new law is likely to be highly restrictive, just like the laws in many other states. In other words, reserved for individuals who work in security-related or law-enforcement-related jobs, or who have employment that requires them to carry around large amounts of cash. A random college kid like you will probably not be able to carry concealed in IL.

And, honestly, thank god.

Reciprocity, youre doing it wrong. even if they allow it, they may not recognize your permit from other states. For instance, colorado doesnt recognize any others from what i understand

I take it the IL law is "may issue" not "shall issue"?

We don't know yet, of course, but I'm guessing that if they are being forced by the courts to remove the complete prohibition, they'll ease up as little as possible, and only enact a "may issue" law. Thus, you'll only be able to carry concealed if you can show good cause for employment or safety-related reasons.

And yorkie, you probably should be taking some classes on responsible gun ownership. Just sayin'...

Oh, right, the courts just overturned the ban . . . I should think before I post.

Yeah, I agree with your assessment.

they have the strictest firearm laws in america.
Are you sure, I thought that was California? Either way, good for them (and you).

they are so high because people cant defend themselves. the only people that arent listening to the laws is the people that are breaking them and killing people that are listening to them that is why i think it is so BULL -blam!- that i cant carry on campus.

ive been in a shooting on campus so i know how it works. hell id love to hunt while i am at school but i cant do that either.

i have my lifetime permit to carry in indiana. that permit is honored by many other states as well. why should my age dictate what i am or am not able to do? i think its -blam!- that the drinking age is 21. why is it that people the age 18 can go and die for their country and never be able to drink a beer? so why should i be denied MY 2nd amendment right because i am better educating myself in aviation?

ive been around firearms my while life hunting and using them. i know what i am doing and the responsabilty they hold, and if i have a question i ask it. carrying a firearm in public is just more responsablity and just another way for that person to get in trouble. so if a person takes that risk in carrying they better know what happens if you have to use it.

also on a side note you did post into my thread about me being in a shooting ON CAMPUS so i think you should know a little better by now.

Yorkie, I'm all for owning guns, but you sound like someone who would go bragging and boasting that he has a gun. My uncle carries, but unless you knew that before hand you would never know

Because alcohol is actually a problem. I see why the drinking age is 21 and trust me, it's nothing special.

age has nothing to do with anything. im 21 ive been drinking since i was in the 8th grade ive never been drunk and i dont want to. you never know when something is going to happen. so why should i and the people in the military be denied the taste of beer and denied my our rights to carry?

But you literally just implied earlier that you think people should be nicer to you because you carry a firearm. That is an incredibly dangerous attitude to have, as is the attitude that you wished you had been able to carry on campus when you saw the shooting going down because you wanted to get involved.

I don't know you personally, nor do I know your personal opinions or feelings on responsible firearm ownership. But what I am telling you is that it SOUNDS from all of your posts combined like you have an itchy trigger finger and like you're hoping to shoot somebody soon. That may or may not be true, but that's definitely how you appear, and arguments/attitudes like this hurt the cause of all of us who are in favor of responsible firearm ownership and concealed carry.

Take it or leave it, it's just my opinion.

Guys, the only reason people are killed by other people with guns is because they can't defend themselves.

Banning/restricting guns only harms the people that follow the law. If someone wants to steal/illegally import a gun and shoot someone, they are going to break the law to do it.

When that happens and the person they want to killed doesn't have a gun of their own, they die. The end.

Good.

Imagine if everyone had a gun. Then if one of those people decides to do something stupid, everyone would should him.

Actually, everyone having a gun would detour just about anyone from doing something stupid.

Or...

People doing stupid things would then be carrying deadly weapons, your assumption is that only sane and rational people would own a weapon.

Guns are not to be taken lightly. I believe that people should be able to carry guns with them, but I do believe at the same time that those same people should know fully well what a gun can do to someone. It's a very serious thing to hold on your person, since the simple pull of a trigger can end someone's life. I agree with you that immature, trigger-happy people should not be allowed to carry weapons (not implying anything about you Yorkie. Just saying.... in general).

In my opinion, there should be some sort of psychological test administered to license applicants to see how well they understand the possible consequences of carrying a gun. If they fail, they don't get a license.
