Subject: So, I've recently stopped drinking soft drinks....

Be sure to tell everyone how cool you are. If you don't tell them, they won't know.

The sleeping more thing might also be related to the time of year. I don't know about you or where you live, but when daylight savings ends (or begins?) in the winter I tend to see a shift where I sleep more for a while.

Studies show that men think about sex every 7 seconds. I do my best to eat hotdogs in under 6, just so things don't get weird.

That would be caffeine withdrawal. It goes away. A cup of coffee will help.

Caffeine withdrawl.

This! I quit drinking sodas several months ago, and the first two to three weeks I felt more tired than usual. But it didn't last long, just your body adjusting to the lack of caffeine intake.

Yeah, that two week period of withdrawal from caffeine can be bad. I choose to quit right as I contracted mono, and I have a month-long blank in my memory because I slept so much.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

It could be a sugar withdrawal. But stick with it- replacing soda with water will help you lose wait and in the long run improve your overall physical and mental health. Sodas are wasted calories.

Could coffee eventually become detrimental?

Like anything when taken out of moderation, yes.

A couple of cups a day wouldn't be harmful.

Could be a way to "taper off", so to speak, if drank sparingly, maybe.

But I don't think you're going to get terribly sick, so just avoiding it entirely until the withdrawals stop would probably be fine. I don't imagine that they'll last long, either.

Pure Insanity
The point of war is not to die for one's clan, but it's to make the other bastard die for his
Right before you die, there is always a chance to save yourself, sieze that chance and live to fight another day
The best way to kill someone is to fight them with the same weapons they use and make them know you are better than them, not because of superior weaponry, but because of superior skill.
Hidden in the shadows, Clothed in camo, Armed to the teeth. Hunting.

I didn't experience anything like that, but I didn't really switch, I just stopped liking it over a bit of time.

It could be withdrawal of some sort, or you might not be drinking enough water.

Close, but the plague killed those infected with it, and the ignorant are still alive.
I wish ignorance was a plague.

I stopped drinking them, never had any problems.

I don't drink very much soda any more.

You should be ok after a little more time.

I get chocolate, sugar and soft drink withdrawal symptoms every time I attempt to give up. I prefer not to give them up anyway. ;)

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

Drink black coffee instead. 5 calories a cup, 3X the caffeine of a soda, and proven health benefits including greater cognitive ability and reduced risk of cancer, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, liver problems, and a variety of other benefits.

Best of all: no caffeine withdrawal headaches :-)

Definitely caffeine narwhals.

Wait...

  • 12.11.2012 4:52 PM PDT

I stopped drinking coffee and had major headaches from it. Had to go back. Interesting how the body can become so dependent on an everyday beverage.

Don't judge a book by its cover, unless it has bacon on the cover, then it is a good book.

Coffee is still -blam!- for you. I am working out for football and I have resorted to all water. and sometimes milk. If you really need sugar drink Apple Juice that has no added sugar.

My money is on sugar withdrawal. It could be because I primarily get my caffeine from coffee, but when I stop that cold turkey every once in a while, I don't get what you're describing from lack of soda.

Caffeine withdrawals. You'll get the same results if you quit Coffee or tea.

Tough it out, though. Your health will improve and you won't have to worry about getting the symptoms again. I've been without carbonation for 5 1/2 years now, and it was one of the best choices I've made.

Caffeine is bad for you. I'd recommend White Tea, after all my research on that, it seems like it's the best thing in this world. It does everything.

My "aunt" had to go to the hospital because she didn't have enough electrolytes in her body after switching to all-water. Also might be caffeine withdrawal.
