Will add update, story is new. Japan and South Korea report that the north fired a missile. If this is the start of the second Korean war, i'm out of here. I ain't fightin' for this crap.

I could have sworn that I saw, a few weeks ago, you say that you were 13...well, maybe not 13, but definitely not old enough to be in the armed forces. I may have you confused for someone else though.
I'm 15, a war that starts now will effect me in 3 years (at 18.)

This is most definitely not the start of another war, unfortunately for the people of North Korea.

It's to intimidate while South Korean elections come up.

South Korea also has a right to be paranoid- they would get stomped if North Korea made a move and it would take weeks to months for the US to retaliate.
I actually disagree with the first point. South Korea is already under intensely conservative rule and there are enough men in charge that are just waiting for NK to provoke them.

But yea, they have a right to be paranoid, especially with Seoul so close to the DMZ. It's a shame really, because so many SK's want a unified Korea. I don't see Kim Jong Il establishing an iron fist rule like his father and grandfather. My guess is that they will eventually open up to the outside out of eventual desperation or wrongly call someone's bluff for the last time.

Moron, it's not the resuming of the war.

North Korea has been saying it will launch another 'test' missile around this time.

If it was the start of a war, it would be all over the news and North Korean troops would be in South Korea.
and even then NK's only real military strength is in the hidden ~75% of it's artillery.

they suck at missles and SK has US misile interception tech.plus the SK seals are pretty good.

this is no big news. however, what should scare people is this: remember the whole revolution in syria against the Assad gov't?
remember how the armed rebels are almost winning?
and how syria's government now is admitted to prepping/supposedly using chemical weapons, a class of WMD?

well now US "military contractors"(PMCs) are through proxy countries training these rebels, many of whom are self-admitted AQ-affiliated religious extremists in the safe handling of chemical weapons.

trufax, look this up for yourself.

I don't see Kim Jong Il establishing an iron fist rule like his father and grandfather.
in his opinion, one of his top generals didn't cry hard enough at his father's funeral. he had him taken to a mortar targeting range for an artillary execution.

Do you even lift?!

  • 12.11.2012 6:14 PM PDT

Were they using Windows XP to launch that rocket?

Seriously, look at the launch terminals in that video.

I wouldn't be surprised if they programmed it to fly around the Earth a few times for the lolz then come down on its target.

Makes no sense, but this is North Korea we are talking about.
