Subject: Geomancy Revisit pre 12-21-12 and post 1-1-13

If im your science teacher, don't bug me.

Update: The one in Seven geomancy symbole can be interpreted as 1-7-13, or at the very least January 2013.

In the rig the sack thread, Deej posted this juicy bit of info

Posted by: gestuart88
How about you give us the date in some crazy geomancy puzzle this week? Those symbols still haunt my dreams. I promise we won't call a random phone number this time - right guys. come on deej.

You never really cracked that case, Bungie Community. I am disappoint.

To which Hylebos replied
You told us that there wasn't anything else to crack and that the goal for Bungie Day was to figure out that they were Geomantic Symbols >_>

Posted by: DeeJ
Please stop inventing random telephone numbers to call. You are harassing total strangers. You are also barking up the wrong tree. The fact that you tracked these symbols to their origin is all you are meant to know about them.

For now...

Either Deej is getting his pay back on us, or there is work to be done.

Possible starting places
I am noticing in this wiki article there is a Chinese version of geomancy, perhaps there is a connection to the Puerto Princesca map.
In Korea, geomancy takes the form of interpreting the topography of the land to determine future events and or the strength of a dynasty or particular family. Therefore, not only were location and land forms important, but the topography could shift causing disfavor and the need to relocate. The idea is still accepted in many South East Asian societies today, although with reduced force

The symbols represent planets, and elements. Additionally they can be converted into binary.

I also remember the one of 7 winners avatars where changed to one of the symbols.

I'm hoping we get another hint in the mail sack this week, but lets see how much headway we can make before Friday.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I have my phone book ready

In case anyone is wondering or wasn't around for Bungie day this year, the OP is relating to this thread of speculation regarding Geomancy and the seven symbols found at the bottom of the update for Bungie Day this year.

I hate when DeeJ picks his words carefully. Always had to add.... "for now". Damn.

I think it was Baghdad who said it, not sure though. I remember someone claiming to be a winner said it in one of the geomancy forums. No link to back it up right now but I will look. Any one of seven winners if you could help us out though.

Desinty's Geomantic Symbols from left to right:

Via
Latin for "the Way". The figure resembles a road or path. It is considered bad of most things, but good with concerns of roads, travels, or journeys. Astrologically it is associated with Cancer and the waning Moon, and both its inner and outer elements are water. All the elements in Via are active, and as such the figure indicates change more than any other figure. Regarding the outcome of the situation being divined, it is neutral, unless change by itself infers a positive or negative result. This figure inverts any figure when added, giving it another meaning of change. Its planetary ruler is Chashmodai, its Intelligence is the Intelligence of Intelligences Malkah beTarshishim ve-ad Ruachoth Shechalim, and its Spirit is the Spirit of Spirits is Shad Barshemoth ha-Shartathan. It is associated with the deities Diana and Mercurius, and the angels Gabriel and Muriel. It is associated with the stomach.

Conjunctio
Latin for "the Conjunction". The figure resembles a crossroads or joining of two figures. The sign is neutral in meaning (good in good things, evil in evil), but good with joining or recovering things, especially marriage or relationships. Astrologically it is associated with Virgo and Mercury retrograde. It represents a combination of forces, for good or ill. By itself, it is neutral, only becoming favourable or not by other figures around it. Its outer element is earth, while its inner element is air. Its planetary intelligence is Tiriel and its spirit is Taphthartharath; it is associated with the deities Mercurius and Ceres, and the angels Raphael and Hamaliel. It is associated with the intestines and digestive system.

Amissio
Latin for "Loss". The figure is of two bowls or cups turned upside-down. Astrologically, it is associated with Taurus and Venus retrograde. Its inner element is fire but ruled outwardly by earth. In general, the figure is bad or negative figure for all charts except those for love (being a figure of Venus) or where loss is desired and denotes loss. Often it represents something outside of one's grasp. Its planetary intelligence is Hagiel and its spirit is Kedemel; it is associated with the goddess Venus, and the angels Anael and Asmodel. It is associated with the neck and throat.

Fortuna Minor
Latin for "the Lesser Fortune". The figure is symbolic of success coming down like beams of light from the Sun. Astrologically it is associated with Leo and the Sun in southern declinations; both its inner and outer elemental rulers are fire. It indicates a weakly positive outcome in nearly all questions, representing transient success that is dependent upon outside help. It favors situations that can be resolved quickly and do not need to be sustained. It is a figure of change and instability. Its planetary intelligence is Nakhiel and its spirit is Sorath; it is associated with the deities Apollo and Jupiter, and the angels Michael and Verchiel. It is associated with the spine.

Rubeus
Latin for "Red". The figure is an overturned glass; an inversion, meaning good in all that is evil, and evil in all that is good. Like the Tail of the Dragon, the figure is considered so unfavourable that if it were the first in a reading, the reading would end. Astrologically it is associated with Scorpio and Mars retrograde; its inner element is ruled by air, and its outer element ruled by water. It represents passion, deception, violence, and vice. Its planetary intelligence is Graphiel and its spirit is Bartzabel; it is associated with the god Mavors, and the angels Samael and Barbiel. It is associated with the reproductive and excretory systems along with the genitals.

Laetitia
Latin for "Joy". The figure resembles an arch, fountain, or rainbow. It is good in situations that concern potential, joy, or happiness. Astrologically it is associated with Pisces and Jupiter retrograde. It is ruled externally by water, but inwardly by fire. It is a positive figure for nearly all questions, representing fast situations and construction. It indicates upward motion, happiness, or joy. Its planetary intelligence is Iophiel and its spirit is Hismael; it is associated with the deities Jove and Neptunus, and the angels Sachiel and Barchiel. It is associated with the feet.

Carcer
Latin for "the Prison". The figure is the outline of an enclosure, a link in a chain, or prison cell. It is usually bad in situations and denotes delays, setbacks, or bindings. Astrologically it is associated with Capricorn and Saturn retrograde; its inner and outer element is earth. It refers to immobility, and also thereby strength. Depending on the question it could indicate a restriction or a source of willpower. It is generally unfavourable, but can be favourable in questions involving stability or security. Its planetary intelligence is Agiel and its spirit is Zazel; it is associated with the deities Saeturnus and Vesta, and the angels Cassiel and Hanael. It is associated with the knees and skeletal system of the body.
I scrounged this up a while back, was mulling over whether or not to make a thread, but since this thread was made I might as well drop it here.

Honestly I was hoping for one of the symbols to be called "The Traveler", or something blatantly obvious like that, but no dice. Though the first symbol is assoiated with travel, so perhaps.

It's a very long shot, and as I said in the other thread, I don't think we have enough evidence to divine an exact meaning from these symbols yet. Chances are, we won't be able to guess what it is until we look back and match it up to what we know in the present, just like the picture of the Traveler in ODST.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

Considering they made avatars from it, I'm guessing there's something to it.

Perhaps the puzzle will make sense in time; for now, though, it seems there is nothing more to solve. There is no reason to think DeeJ is lying about that and many reasons to think that he is not.

Awesome stuff bringing everyone back up to speed.

What about the topography connection though?

I felt like we were on to something with the binary conversion, on bungie day before deej shut us down, we just have to keep it under control this time.

There are seven symbols, at most that means seven different letters. Unless it's supposed to spell out "Destiny", I'm sceptical. It's definitely not a phone number, they've made that abundently clear.

okay crazy idea.

What if the order of those symbols is a stack system, translating into morse code? Going from left to right, depending on the stack breaks, how it translates to dots/dashes/spaces.

Keep in mind that the overall symbol is a 3x4 square, and a break is every blank space from this square.

I'm super bored, so my first basic translation system was based on the first three layers, going from the top down, based off of the center column. The top layer decided the number of characters, and the second two layers decided if it was a dot, a space, or a dash. Two dots in the two bottom layers means a dash, one means a dot, and no dots means a space.

What did I get from this?

I agree, there has to be some significance to them.

Also any one else notice the amount of binary they seem to be using lately?

I added the numbers together and got this 10-12-20

and I got This. Mods this is not about religion at all. Listen to this phrase though The Tower of Babel

Now the whole world had one language and a common speech. As people moved eastward, they found a plain in Shinar and settled there.

They said to each other, "Come, let's make bricks and bake them thoroughly." They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. Then they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth."

But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. The Lord said, "If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. 7 Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other."

So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. That is why it was called Babel because there the Lord confused the language of the whole world. From there the Lord scattered them over the face of the whole earth.
We all know bungie likes to use somewhat religious things in their games (obviously halo) So maybe it's related? Maybe it's not.

What really got me was this Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens

From what we've heard of Destiny so far is that it's our story begins on the last city on Earth.

How did you get to those numbers?
And what made you so sure they refernced the Bible?

Also, how did we never thing of the morse code angle.
I know there are alot of common translating mistakes in morse code, so can we double check the
M L L E E.

Update:

Binary for the symbols where 1=* and 0=**

1111 0110 1010 1100 0100 1000 1001

I tried to convert each symbol into a letter, I had to go international characters for some of these but I got
.... -..- .-.- ..-- -.-- .--- .--.

My translation
(note a and u are umlaut and I don't know how to input those characters)

H X A U Y J P

I'm not a computer guy, but isn't there a computer code for these?

4666776

4+6 = 10 6+6=12 7+7+6= 20 10-12-20

And I don't know if it's just a coincidence or what it is.

another possibility is that all those numbers together equal 42 which is a product of 7.
