Subject: Not H2:Anniversary but Matchmaking:Anniversary

I am a pharmaceutical scientist. I received my Masters degree in Pharmaceutics from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia in 2010, after working as a Pharmacist for 4 years. I currently work in King of Prussia, PA, and focus on the analytical chemistry of small molecule APIs. My clients include some of the most well known big pharma companies in the world.

Not to detract from the current H2:Anniversary thread, but I think I have an idea that would work.

Most everyone loved H2's multiplayer. Only some were enraptured with the campaign of H2. Well, I propose a solution.

In 2014, it will be 10 years since Halo 2. By this point, the next-gen of consoles will be out. So, I propose 1 solution to give everyone what they want: Matchmaking Anniversary.

Celebrate 10 years of Matchmaking on the next-gen of consoles by bringing back Halo 2 and 3 maps with the Halo 2 rank system and clans. No best of, no campaign, just make it 100% multiplayer and bring back the old mechanics. Will it ever truly be an authentic remake? No, but it should be damn close. This is such a cash-cow that it should be a no-brainer.

This basically satisfies the core that are unhappy with Halo, post-ODST era. Give the people what they want, bring H2 maps back online, enhance it with forge and Halo 3 maps. You'd have 51 maps to choose from. Let the community vote on the top 30 and release 20-25 of them. With 5-10 being DLC at a later point if interest is sustained.

I understand the man power needed to do this. I understand developers wanting to move forward instead of living in the past. It'd be a money making machine though, and at the end of the day, that's why these guys are in business.

We work in the dark to serve the light.

Campaign or bust, I say.

Be sure to tell everyone how cool you are. If you don't tell them, they won't know.

If only CE Anniversary had the original multiplayer with online capabilities.

Sigh.

343 would probably view this as a threat to future sales of the series.

But...I already played Halo 2 and 3. Why waste more money on something I already played?

Unless you all are agreeing that keeping the core gameplay the same is a good thing, in which case you all have to stop -blam!-ing about CoD doing that.

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

When you say bring back the mechanics, you mean the Halo 2 mechanics or Halo 3 mechanics? I'm assuming this would involve general fixes to the large amounts of glitches in Halo 2 if you mean the former. Personally i'd like a remaster of the Halo 2 campaign. It had it's flaws but it's still enjoyable.

If I had my creative vision fulfilled, I'd bring back the H3 mechanics without any of the stuff like bubbleshield, regen, no sweep sniping like in H2. However, if maps were to be combined from both games, there'd have to be some balancing of mechanics performed because people would obviously take issue with playing H2 maps under H3 mechanics and vice versa.

I also get the people that don't want to pay for content that is essentially old. That's fine, this is why I propose that Anniversary is really only intended for the nostalgic, or those too young to experience these games in the first place. There will still be the contingent that doesn't like CoD, or Battlefield and current 343i Halo.

This is merely an option for 343i to make a lot of money and to give FPS fans the choice to buck the trend of current shooters and re-live what was arguably the best era of console shooters (without perks, loadouts, medals for registering a kill).

Again, much like HCE:Anniversary, it's appealing to a niche audience, but it still satisfies a large thirst for a proven formula. I think it makes a lot of sense to do this on the next-gen of consoles for the purpose of "HD" graphics and having an "all-inclusive" game to enjoy in a time where innovation is lacking in many major games.
