If I am not posting, then I am reading what you might have posted.

Totally unnecessary, but I don't really care.. anymore.

There comes a time in every mans life... and that time is not now.

Of course it's necessary, how else is anyone going to know who made the post?

It's no more a waste of space than the threads dedicated to this topic over the years. :p
But where's the line between a legitimate sig and just outright spam?
© is okay but how about ©©©©©©©©©©?
I'd say that a "©©©©©©©©© " at the end of every post someone makes is pretty much waste of space. Copy/pasting stuff is just spam imo.
'©' is not okay.

I know who is posting the content.
Putting a signature under your post content is literally like having your prefix and title bar above and below your post.
"not okay". Really? Does it affect you that much? Does it? The fact that you're so up-in-arms over single character is honestly baffling. PLEASE explain to me why it is so "not okay". Also, @Make, I don't have to copy and paste it. ALT+0169 is just as easy.

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

1. I'm not offended. I apologize if it appears I'm being defensive, I tend to do that.

2. They're very clearly specifically talking about me.

3. To state that something is "not okay" is rather harsh for just a character put at the end of a post, so saying I'm the only one taking this too seriously doesn't really make sense, IMO.

You imply a level of control over Halo: Reach matchmaking that we no longer have. Or, in your vernacular, it isn't our shiznit anymore.

Why would someone use a signature? Is it because they want more attention toward their post?

I don't despise members who sign their posts, but I do find it an annoying practice.
I just fail to see the point in signing a post when the your name is already at the top of the post.

To answer your question, No. It is no longer necessary.

Post sigs are a throwback to ye olde internet days of yore where posting on message boards was mainly done anonymously (security protocols were not as refined as they are nowadays).

Some of us who were internetting back then held on to the signature as a form of identity even though it is no longer necessary to identify yourself.

But there's nothing wrong with it... I dont understand why it bothers some people.

  • 12.12.2012 8:25 PM PDT

Please don't hype for games...
They'll just fall short of your expectations and you'll complain for months.

As someone who only wanders into this forum every so often, I can say that I have no idea who you are. In addition, I will probably forget who you are after contributing to the thread. While signatures may not be the best way to do so, it definitely makes you more recognizable, if only for the fact that people now know you as the guy who has that annoying signature.

If too many users use signatures, though, it'll probably just become the same as usernames, something to be overlooked. However, since this community has such a small amount of people who sign their posts, it makes those few more recognizable.

But lol you can't do that because if you do you're clearly just begging for attention.

Heh, and here I was thinking you were doing it as a parody and jab at everyone else that signs their posts.

I guess I gave you too much credit. I'll know for next time.

No sir. Just stupid old me. I find it's best to always give me as little credit as possible.

Major props to my hommie Sheeef. He made Recon possible for me. Long time recovering emails and passwords. And it was his. lol.

I don't understand it either.
CrazzySnipe55 has the copyright sign at the end of ALL his posts. I think it's pointless.

It's a Troll Stamp.

EDIT: Oh look, it's CrazzySnipe55 in this thread. Lol hey.

Well a lot of people in this site do use signatures, the only difference is, they use it the right way. I went through every user that posted in this page and they all had a signature. We just don't usually notice it because we don't give a damn about each others signature (dejavu), so we never look it up.

Maybe on Bungie.next they will make the signatures more visiable that way people won't feel the need to have 2 signatures. But if this were implemented I'd like an option to turn off signatures. I've been to forums that have this option. I'm sure it's possible.

Welcome.
You have just entered my mind. Please sign the contract before continuing further into this black hole to acknowledge I am not at fault if any mental/physical damage is caused to you whilst viewing my history. If any damage to yourself is caused, please call your whaambulance for advice.

Using signatures is very important for identification.

I personally don't, but it doesn't bother me when others do. I mean, what's the big deal? I don't think it has anything to do with attention seeking or anything like that... some people merely like to sign their name.

Those are just my thoughts...

Cheers
