Talking about Sweden is an ultrabannable offense.

Too bad being completely and utterly wrong isn't a bannable offense.

That is, either been to the foreign country and eaten the national dish there, or had the dish been cooked by someone who is from that country.

How did the 'authentic' dish compare to the kinds of food you'd get in a restaurant? For example, having Chinese take-out compared to having home-cooked Chinese.

I don't believe so. Unfortunately.

Inappropriate. Went a little to far with the butt hole tearing.

I've had Korean and Mexican food.

In terms of American food, I've been to TGI Fridays.

I lived in Mexico until I was seven. You can't fathom the epicness of actual Mexican cuisine.

I remember thinking the fries at McDonalds were better in America than in Canada when I was a kid. Does that count?

USA! USA! USA!

We all wear masks and the time comes when we cannot remove them without removing our own skin.

I've been to Ireland, France, Italy, and Germany.
So yes.

The food back in the states made me sick and gave me stomach aches the first two weeks I was back. I've yet to come across salmon as tasty as I had in Ireland.

America.
My brother was stationed in Italy at the time. We timed everything so he would be on leave when I got down there and we traveled to those places.

Awesome. Sounds like a great holiday.

Would you say that French/Irish/Italian/German restaurants in America are the same as the real deal, or what?

  • 12.12.2012 12:20 AM PDT

hmm

Yes. I've lived all around Asia.

Disregard Females, acquire currency.

I lived in Asian town in California. My ass and I know authentic Asian food.

A lot of Japanese food. There's a restaurant near me owned and operated by a Japanese couple; I'd say their food is pretty authentic. I really wanted to try Escargot, as well as frog legs when I was in France, but I unfortunately didn't get the opportunity.

Only Central and South American countries. My God... the food there was amazing.

  • 12.12.2012 1:27 AM PDT

I've had authentic (as in cooked by an actual person of that nationality) Persian, Chinese, and Japanese food, to name a few. Absolutely amazing stuff, though the restaurants where I live also make great foreign dishes that are indifferent to the homemade foreign dishes I've had.

Bhineka Tunggal Ika!!

Well, I think that one Italian restaurant I went to is the most authentic foreign food I had so far.
It really blows my mind how great all those stuff were yet it looked really, really simple to cook.

Just hoping my uncle gonna cook a good turkey/meat dishes as soon as he get back from US.

RIP Derek Farley

I lived in Germany for almost a decade, and traveled to many European countries. Authentic food tastes way better in its home country.

Also, why does European Coca-Cola taste far better than American Coke?

  • 12.12.2012 5:19 AM PDT

When I was in mexico I had a taco

American Coke is sweetened with corn syrup. European uses real sugar.

I've eaten plenty of places in foreign countries - but if you look hard enough, you can find true authentic restaurants in America as well.

I live in the UK, and I've visited the USA and France. The food in Europe seems to be a bit better tasting. However, my dad's Indian, and I've been to Chinese and Indian restaurants run by people from those regions
