Recently I've decided to start playing some PC games, I've always heard how much more 1337 they're supposed to be so I thought I've give them a try, just to see what all the fuss was about!

Well, I found myself struggling to aim with a mouse because I'm a noob.

So, I thought I'd make a thread on Bungie and see what other people preferred.

So, which do you prefer and why? And are you a PC gamer or not, it'd be important to help gather opinions!

/Mouse is more accurate.
Anyone who denies this is in self denial.
M+KB is always more accurate then Controller will ever be.

Is there a large skill curve to using a mouse?

I use my mouse and keyboard for every PC game apart from dark Souls, which has the most awful control scheme ever.

I started off on PC when I was a kid, so that is probably why I feel more comfortable with the controls than a pad.

Well, depends on the game that is played.
But in general? Yes, everything needs to be precise.

RTS games are better with keyboard and mouse I think as you can set hotkeys and do things more efficiently than an Xbox controller (take Halo Wars for example). Also, you can usually make a more custom button layouts than the presets games give you.

It depends on which you feel more comfortable with I guess, but if you can get used to the controls then it should be fine.

I'm an Indonesian Halo (and other games) gamer!
Bhineka Tunggal Ika!!

Well depends on the game IMO.

I prefer using mouse+keyboard for FPS and RTS. For action/3rd person shooter, platformers, turn-based, RPG, shumps, I prefer using controller.
and a Vita for fighting games

why a murder train?Well, The Blues revolve around trains, and I'm trying to be Blues-y about it.
I think a t-rex sounds better, I mean Murder T-rex. just think about it.
This made my day.

I prefer a mouse for most games, but I can't play 3rd person shooters or racing games with one.

You have muscle memory for the controller, obviously this means you'll play better with it to start with. Use a mouse/keyboard for long enough and you should get used to them. Though if you don't play a game that requires particularly accurate aiming skills, I wouldn't bother.

Per Audacia Ad Astra

I aim better with a mouse than an analogue stick as the movement is far more precise whereas with an analogue stick you have to tap or hold the sticks in a specific direction repeatedly for slow movement whilst aiming the screen, for example.

hmm

I guess mouse has more accuracy since you control it with your wrist/forearm, whilst you only use your thumbs with analog sticks. But I don't game with keyboard&mouse, so I would say controller.

This world wants to drag you down... And the weight, that guilt they want to hang around your neck, you don’t have to carry it one more step. You think they won’t let you rest, but it’s not up to them. It never was.

Mouse (and keyboard) is more precise, controller is more ergonomic. That's all it comes down to.

Usually, it just depends on what games you grew up with. For me it's the Xbox controller because I grew up with the gameboy and the original Xbox. The only game I really play on PC is Team Fortress 2.
