Subject: Does the UK have the man power to win a war on it's own?

We have some of the best troops in the world, but there aren't many of them, could we win a war against a large country, like China, the USA or Russia without help?

On one hand, we won the Falkland war with ease, but that was mainly a Naval war, that ended after Argentina left the islands; we never had to invade the Large landmass. however, even with this lack of troops, we can hold our own back in britain pretty well, so it's entirely possible that we could win a war by fighting defensively untill the enemy has exhausted it's resources.

I'm going to invade your heart like a barn swallow high on milk chocolate and grandma love.

Fairness is only possible within the limited powers of man. Elsewhere, there is only chance.

Thus I refute thee.

UK strategy - turtling? Noobs.

Against a large country? Not a hope in hell.

That said, that's a massively ridiculous scenario. If there was a war involving the UK and another major power, it wouldn't be just them.

Don't LOL if you aren't L'inOL.

Halo: Reach

Halo ODST

Because of our size, probably not.

If only we were bigger...

I'm gonna say no if it was against a large country like USA, China or Russia

But maybe a smaller country in Europe or something

  • 12.12.2012 9:14 AM PDT

Numba one Italian on da flud.

Since you're part of the EU, you would win ANY war easily.

Powerful but small company vs powerful massive country. How is that fair?

  • 12.12.2012 9:16 AM PDT

It gets better

Didn't the Falkland war boil down to the fact that British ships could fire just out of range of the Argentina ships/guns?

  • 12.12.2012 9:19 AM PDT

Depends on who they fight. I don't see why they can't take over Thailand or some other poor country

  • 12.12.2012 9:24 AM PDT

BrAdLeY

If i went in the army i would use my spartan laser and win the war

Break the windowsill

Britain could only fight another war like the falkland war and they could only fight it for a short time. Anything bigger or longer they would have to pull out

The strongest Rivals are also the strongest allies.

We could hold our ground against a country such as USA, Russia, or china. But we couldn't invade.

Simple Plan for ever! Yes I'm a emo and I don't care what you say. I love all my friends and my guitars! Emo4life! <3

I'd say we could defend for a good few months, anything after that we'd have probably lost about 60% of our forces, so we'd be done for. We'd be at a disadvantage as we had the Harrier brought off of us.

I never really understood why we retired them.

Erm...I highly doubt it.
Maybe if we were just playing defense we could last for a little while, but we would be overrun with sheer numbers and brute force sooner or later.
