So . . . technically . . . those who got it for free won't permanently have online access to them?

Correct.

Awesome right?

It is awesome! Because the maps suck, and we got a free preview and now know not to buy it!

Those who bought the LE edition and season pass still basically blew 800 points lol.

/opinion

Fixed. Got the map pass with my LE. I don't feel ripped off. Not anymore at least.

Of course. That's the entire point.

You all are crying out of your -blam!-s because you thought people got something for free and you didn't get the chance because you paid upfront. That's all you care about; not feeling like you got ripped off. The maps could be the worst maps ever created, or they could be an instant classic. But all you care about is seeing those who thought they got it for free to suffer.

And that's beyond pathetic, really.

How exactly is this awesome? Unless you're one of those LE/map pass buyers that got all butthurt, then yes it's awesome. It's stupid even coming from the standpoint of someone who has bought them. More people get disgruntled, less people on the playlist and who were NOT befitting from all this? Only MS and 343i. Yes this is "awesome".

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I think letting the "few" people who did the glitch people keep the maps would of boosted moral and would sent the message 343i/M$ aren't money grubbing -blams-.

  • 12.12.2012 10:24 AM PDT

The map pack sucks wiener. These guys are lucky, they at least got to test them out. Here's hoping to the other two being better than this -blam!-e.

  • 12.12.2012 10:25 AM PDT

343 needs to change and become more customer friendly.

So, it's beyond pathetic that I, as well as thousands of others, paid for something and that others get it for free? And I can't voice my anger on the issue, much like everyone else does with the matchmaking problems/concerns?

Sorry you don't like that mate. Really am.

I don't see why that's pathetic.

The situation boils down to this... Certain people paid a larger amount of money up-front with the understanding that they would save in the long run. That was no lonegr the case when other people started getting the first map pack for free. That means the people who paid more money up-front were now actually paying more than they would have to otherwise. What's worse, they were no longer in a position to take advantage of this situation.

So, the people who consider themselves to be loyal customers (at the benefit of 343i) appeared to be the ones getting the shaft. I think these people just wanted to level the playing field by:

a) Being reimbursed for the cost of the map pack.

- OR-

b) Having the free access to the map pack removed for other people.

Agreed. Now it's just getting sloppier.

Yup, but at least their doing something.

Oh don't get me wrong, it was a screw up and certainly must suck for those who did pay up front. And I'm sure 343 and/or MS would have compensated them (I thought they'd simply throw in an additional map pack to be included in the pass). Now, they're essentially doing a poor job of covering it up, haha.

However, the point I'm making is that people seem to care more about those who received a free copy getting screwed out of it, rather than them receiving future compensation to make up this error.

I would prefer compensation over the other people losing it.

I don't think that's the case at all. I suspect anyone who had already paid would be happy with either alternative. We were told specifically, though, that there would be no refunds and we've been given no indication, that there will be a fourth map pack to "compensate" them.

This seems like a perfectly resonable solution and I find it to be perfectly resonable that those who paid in full are now happy that things "fairness" has been restored.

I'm not contesting that the current solution is unreasonable. Either way makes sense. But clearly the OP, and among others in the countless "map pack" threads, seem pretty overjoyed at how "karma bit back", or whatever.

Since I'm not buying the maps, I don't really care either way. I downloaded them, but haven't played them, and of course it's a bummer I can't keep them (free -blam!- rocks, no matter what. Unless it's herpes). I just think the amount of people whining and wishing ill for those who received it free is just ridiculous. Rather, I'd think that them wishing for compensation for themselves would've been the higher road.

Real account.

Join me as we make new friends from different communities!

If you assign every letter of the alphabet a number, a is 1, b is 2, etc., and you take all of the values of the word "MATH", and add them, you get 42. So math is the meaning of life, the universe, and everything.

Gives me enough time to acquire all the achievements, how kind of them.

Until today, I've only seen requests for compensation. Unfortunately, this is the solution that was decided on. Again, I consider it to be perfectly reasonable that people would be pleased by it.

That being said, I do agree that some people (like the OP) seem to be a little over-zealous in how they express their pleasure. I asked earlier in this thread what karma had to do with it. I don't see that anybody who downloaded the map pack did anything wrong, nor do they deserve any retribution. But if they thought they were getting something for nothing or "cheating the system", they shouldn't be surprised to find out that's not the case after all.

Dang it. I know I got them for free and all, but I don't want to give them up, and I'm not paying for them if I already played them.........

AND when the thing showed up, MS themselves said it's ours.

The "Halo 4 Buy and Play" campaign was just made up. If it was true we would've known that before the release date of the map packs.

I believe that the maps are a trial now and the people who got the maps before this bullcrap came out will still be able to use them.

Not that I care anyway, since these maps blow.

A lot of people like the maps though. I think they are a good mix.

And because of this goof, some people will agree and be more than willing to pay the points for it.
