However, the point I'm making is that people seem to care more about those who received a free copy getting screwed out of it, rather than them receiving future compensation to make up this error.I don't think that's the case at all. I suspect anyone who had already paid would be happy with either alternative. We were told specifically, though, that there would be no refunds and we've been given no indication, that there will be a fourth map pack to "compensate" them.
This seems like a perfectly resonable solution and I find it to be perfectly resonable that those who paid in full are now happy that things "fairness" has been restored.
I'm not contesting that the current solution is unreasonable. Either way makes sense. But clearly the OP, and among others in the countless "map pack" threads, seem pretty overjoyed at how "karma bit back", or whatever.
Since I'm not buying the maps, I don't really care either way. I downloaded them, but haven't played them, and of course it's a bummer I can't keep them (free -blam!- rocks, no matter what. Unless it's herpes). I just think the amount of people whining and wishing ill for those who received it free is just ridiculous. Rather, I'd think that them wishing for compensation for themselves would've been the higher road.Until today, I've only seen requests for compensation. Unfortunately, this is the solution that was decided on. Again, I consider it to be perfectly reasonable that people would be pleased by it.
That being said, I do agree that some people (like the OP) seem to be a little over-zealous in how they express their pleasure. I asked earlier in this thread what karma had to do with it. I don't see that anybody who downloaded the map pack did anything wrong, nor do they deserve any retribution. But if they thought they were getting something for nothing or "cheating the system", they shouldn't be surprised to find out that's not the case after all.
