Subject: Physicists to test if universe is a computer simulation

Do you know what kind of hat I'm wearing?

A party hat; you don't get one. An honor will this party be, a party in your honor, for your honor. Some of Tfear's personal guards are going to be there. You'll be introduced shortly.

Prepare to die.

This is quite interesting.

What do you think we could do if we can peek behind the curtain that is reality? Exploit bugs in the simulation to alter reality?

Wolfram has indeed been at this theory for many years.

Would this tampering mean that we are an A.I becoming self-aware?

Indeed, but now there is a new test that can corroborate it!

So... We'd actually be the Matrix? I doubt if this will be a fruitful test, but I am SO EXCITED.

Studies show that men think about sex every 7 seconds. I do my best to eat hotdogs in under 6, just so things don't get weird.

Please allow me to introduce Myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul and faith

Pretty interesting. Earth shattering and ultimately pointless at the same time. Earth shattering (if true) for obvious reasons. Pointless because we are still as helpless to the laws of the program as we are the laws of physics. Its like finding out the correct name for white was actually Joe, and we have been using the wrong name this whole time. (that's a dumb analogy, but the best I could do)

Odd that they started this experiment around now. One of the funnier 2012 myths is that Dec 21st will usher in an age of uniqueness and enlightenment. I wonder if our program would finally become self aware on that day...

  • 12.12.2012 11:30 AM PDT

Nifty. I've wondered about that idea before.

I am a pharmaceutical scientist. I received my Masters degree in Pharmaceutics from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia in 2010, after working as a Pharmacist for 4 years. I currently work in King of Prussia, PA, and focus on the analytical chemistry of small molecule APIs. My clients include some of the most well known big pharma companies in the world.

I wonder about stuff like this from time to time. There are a lot of interesting theories on infinity and origins. Much like the theory of elasticity, stating that the universe blows up and contracts on itself over and over and over again...and if you believe that it is a valid argument, then we're left to wonder how many times has our universe "restarted" and what iteration are we in?

Its funny because you are the one breaking rules, not him.

oh the irony, ect ect.

Blind luck always prevails.

That's pretty interesting, although I am not convinced that a 'positive' result necessarily indicates we are in a simulation; correlation and causation etc. That could just be the article being simplified though.

  • 12.12.2012 11:39 AM PDT

I know everything, I've just forgotten most of it.

Also, my XBL Gamertag is 'Wenggh', not 'A Stolen Fruit'.

If this is true, I'm breaking out.

If this isn't true, I'm making a Universe in a Computer Simulation, putting myself in there just so I can break out of that one!

Very true.

Even if this universe is just a simulation, it's real for us. We still have to make money, pay taxes, feed ourselves, etc.
