Hello, I'm currently specifying a PC for finance. I've selected what I think is necessary, but I'm not very good with hardware specs and so I don't fully understand it all.

I've chosen this PC based on my home needs and also gaming needs. Bear in mine this isn't super hardcore gaming, this is for things such as DayZ/Arma2, Guild wars, and things such as that. I'd also like my PC to last a good few years, so longevity is also a factor.

These are my current specs that I have chosen.

I went with an AMD build as you can see. I'm not interested in this AMD v Intel thing, I just want a good computer.

This set up comes to £1,055.

You're asking for a good computer but you choose AMD...

Not bad. Bit of a wonky site but you're in the UK so w/e.

I have the 660 TI myself and I run on a AMD 980 BE @ stock 3.7 w 8GB of DDR-2 Ram upgrade incoming).

I also play DayZ, so I can give you a rather precise rating on your rig. The 660 handles the game very well. I can push it to almost max (keeping the draw distance down a tad though) but it looks fantastic and ran absolutely fine.

That's a very solid card. Overall it seems fine. I'd get rid of that nonsense anti-malware crap though, if you can.

Great, cheers for the help! The anti-malware thing is an automatic thing which is no extra cost. Can't get rid of it as far as I'm aware.

Also, why are my links failing?

Choosing AMD over Intel is like choosing a go kart over a sports car for a NASCAR race.

This forum has always forbidden secure hyper linking. Just remove the s in https.

edit -- It's also rather petty that while it's not like it's a hoard of negativity, the two other posters in here are so anti-AMD. My new rig I have coming is Intel, but my AMD rig has treated me just fine over the years.

If your budget ALLOWS switching to a i5-3570K over that AMd, by all means. Intel will out-perform AMD in gaming specifically, but for some, it's just not in the budget. You're not gimping yourself severely by any means.

second edit -- Your links are probably still failing because the specs you have are for you alone, not a public list so it can't be shared even if we have the URL.

Yeah. I tried to make a intel based one but that site is crazy man. I have no idea how it works and it doesn't give share-friendly links. I dunno what the VAT stuff is. They also don't specifically indicate that they sell 3570K <-- the K is important.

So I dunno O.O

Well I finally found it. link -- they do have the K-versions.

Either way, like I said if you really want AMD go for it, just know that next to ZERO games care that you have 6 cores over 4. Most only care about 2.

AMD's 6+ core push is for video editing, streaming, encoding, multi-monitor config's where you'll be running stuff on them all the time and whatnot.

Pick one.

AMD is a cheaper alternative but don't expect it to be good.

That's cool. Which motherboard would be necessary for it? I have no idea what the difference is in motherboards.

Once you pick a CPU, it only shows you compatible mobo's. they are all LGA1155 compatible. The best one out of the bunch, if you consider long-term upgradability and whatnot, is the P8Z77-V PCI-E 3.0 SLI ready one.

PCI-E 3.0 is a nice bonus on a mobo. so is support for SLI if down the road you decide to get another 660 TI. Any will work, performance is somewhat minimal when it comes to Mobo. Mostly it's about advanced customization.

If you really want to get into it, just jot down every model number and google reviews of them. Read em and see which one is the best per your budget.
