Subject: The flood...The Defenders of Halo?

-blam!- Rage

Now I was playing Halo:CE earlier and I was playing my most admired and favorite level, The Library. So the objective is to capture the index, or in the little phrases when you ride the 3rd elevator, KEYS TO SUPER WEAPONS. My theroy is a little far off but I state it anyway after my playing on The Library.

I was fighting my way thru, tearing and ripping appart the Flood with my trusty AR and the moniter was blabbering on about how complex and amazing the facilty is and how we reach the index, ect. Well, for a second it hit me, why am I fighting the flood now, if I am trying to recover the Index (which means I could activate the rings) why are they trying to infect ME. I say this because if the flood want to consume all then who put the Index in the library if the rings would be activated sometime again in the future. I pondered this for a while and one thought poped into my mind, one, they act like THEY are guarding it. It seems like they don't want anybody reaching it to activate it. Then I remembered at the end of the game, of how so badly the moniter wanted the index to activate the rings. So he was using Spartan 117, or the "Reclaimer" to get the index for the moniter, he used him to cast down the gardians of the rings and retrive the index for activation.

This then changes my theroy about what the Superweapon of the rings is, is it still the Flood? is it somesort of beam? I don't know but I thought I mention my own little theroy abut Halo's super weapon.

By the way this is also true for Delta Halo in Halo 2 as well. So I want to here what you guys and girls think. :)

First off, why is the Pope in your head and were can i find him? JK. Second, the real super weapon is the flood juggernaut. It's a beast!

If we assume everything that GS has told us is true, then the Flood are in fact guarding the index. Of course they are guarding it- look what it does. It kills all their food.

Wouldn't YOU want to keep a weapon out of the hands of your enemies that would kill all of your food?

The reason I said the Pope is because you said something poped into your mind. The flood juggernaut is a HUGE flood combat form.

True. Gravemind was trying to secure the Index, but was stopped by Enforcers. His Flood minions(notice the Infection Forms scurrying towards the Index chamber than attacking you) tried to stop Miranda and Johnson also.

You know, the Library was infested awfully quick...

The real question is..whether the Flood has sanctuary on the Halos, as theorized by Prophet of Supposition.

Wouldn't it be weird if the gravemind was like thousand of infection and combat forms. Shudder.

I am glad people agree with me that they are guarding it instead of just happening to be there and just happened to notice you and want to kill you.

The Gravemind controls Cortana. Which sort of controls you. Forcing you to go rescue her in a giant flood filled room/hall/volcano.

Do you have a picture of this Flood Jugernaunt or does anyone else just so I know it exsits.

The only reason the flood are guarding it is because it is the thing that kills all the people... which means all their food....

Here it is, The Flood Juggernaut!
The reason you can see it is beacasue Bungie didnt have enough time to put it in the game and left the code for them there and hackers can recreate the code and view it like in the video.

They do look pretty awesome though, too bad they weren't in Halo 2 along with the Engineers.

The monitor wanted to activate halo to prevent the flood from spreading, and as we all know, this would be a very bad thing. The flood were there to study, the monitors were there tod efend against a possible flood outbreak. If the flood were defending the index (which i highly doubt) they probably wanted to prevent someone from activating the ring and killing their food. CHances are they were just trapped there when they broke out of their prison in their freishly inhabited covenant and human bodies.

Are you trying to tell me that you wouldn't stop someone from activating a weapon that would take away all of your food? Why, that just doesn't make sense............

Location: Outlaws' Summit.

this was a very fresh theory, thanks for sharing it with us

however i do have a problem:

halo was built to contain/study the flood

when activated, it vaporizes all sentient life in the galaxy

we know the forerunner built these "fortress worlds" as a means of last resort

they activated it, everyone died, yadda yadda

but the reason the flood are still here is because they were being studied. im not too sure that their purpose is to gaurd the rings.

granted, they dont want you to get to the index to kill them off, i think that they were in stasis and were released accidently by the covie

unless im misinterpreting your theory?

Its definately possible they were guarding the index but only with gravemind behind them otherwise they are so midless they probably have no idea what the index or halo's do. The only way the flood were there defending the index is if gravemind or some other intelligent flood put them there for that reason.
