Subject: The flood...The Defenders of Halo?

-blam!- Rage

this was a very fresh theory, thanks for sharing it with us

however i do have a problem:

halo was built to contain/study the flood

when activated, it vaporizes all sentient life in the galaxy

we know the forerunner built these "fortress worlds" as a means of last resort

they activated it, everyone died, yadda yadda

but the reason the flood are still here is because they were being studied. im not too sure that their purpose is to gaurd the rings.

granted, they dont want you to get to the index to kill them off, i think that they were in stasis and were released accidently by the covie

unless im misinterpreting your theory?

No you read it fine and it doesn't matter how people see it, it is a logical theroy that I thought I share and thanks for the comments too.

Hail the SI. Keep It Clean

Yes. The flood are defendings Halo, because if its activated. They'll be wipped out because the food source will be destroyed.

i dont see it as them "defending" halo, cuz thats not their purpose

i see as them preventing the humans from activating it........cuz given the option of staying on the ring or roaming the universe, id say they would roam the universe and care about their former "home"

im kinda feelin what youre saying, but i dont believe that they're all like "we have to save the halo"

i think its more like "we have to stop these guys from turning it on"

which i believe is what we are all getting at.......but just wording it differently

i guess some consider that ' defending ' and others call it ' preventing '

343 Guilty Spark: This Instillation was created to house and study the Flood.

I think it's more like

The flood.......The Prisoners of Halo.

The reason the flood were released in halo 2 was because the arbitor isolated the power grid. so that the covenant could get to the index. I expect the same thing happened on instilation 04

No -blam!- the Flood want to keep you from using the index! They don't want to starve!

How does this theory make sense?

I respect your opinion, I'm probably just going to disagree with it.

I don't think they guarded Halo as such... perhaps in the sense that they were imprisoned on Halo but they themselves are the deterrant to any invaders. The Forerunners certainly didn't control the Flood perfectly, the graves of the Forerunners litter the surface of Halo.
