Subject: Is it okay for teachers to express their political views in a class?

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

Teach their opinions? No.

Express them? Yes.
This. If the teacher doesn't force the students to believe his/her opinion, then it is okay.

These often go hand in hand though. If a teacher expresses their opinion, they'll probably be asked questions about it. You then have to expect them to explain their opinion, ergo teaching it.
It's one thing for me to express my opinion in class.
It's another, altogether, to grade students in accordance to how they align with my beliefs.

Pure Insanity
The point of war is not to die for one's clan, but it's to make the other bastard die for his
Right before you die, there is always a chance to save yourself, sieze that chance and live to fight another day
The best way to kill someone is to fight them with the same weapons they use and make them know you are better than them, not because of superior weaponry, but because of superior skill.
Hidden in the shadows, Clothed in camo, Armed to the teeth. Hunting.

Yes. But they shouldn't try to force their opinions on their students, nor should they be repetitive about it.

I'm cool with it. Pretty sure most people are too.

I r guy who gun to teach u lesson

Meh, I know most of the teachers I have just play it safe. Don't want a kid going home telling there "one side of politics" parents what their "other side of politics teacher" said and having the parents freak out for no reason.

It can be good if done correctly though, debating is always nice. Teachers that just throw their opinion out of no where just to say them are annoying though (only had one so far)
I ENJOY PIZZA. NOW LETS DO SOME SCIENCE.
Ummmm, okay...

Just remember that no matter how terrible you feel, or how much you want to let go, there are people who care about you and love you.

Today a young man on acid realized that we are merely energy condensed to a slow vibration. That we are one conciousness experiencing its self subjectively. Life is but a dream and we are the imagination of ourselves.
Here's Tom with the weather...

It's not a "War On Drugs", it's a war on personal freedom.

I've always felt uncomfortable with this issue. Personally, I don't let it affect me. But I end up worrying about the kids in their formative years who tend to take other's ideas and run with them without thinking for themselves. When teachers assert their political agendas during this crucial time in a youngling's life, it almost seems as if the professors are asserting their views so that said views are not lost when they are dead-n-gone. Don't get me wrong, these issues definitely need discussing within the context of a classroom environment. However, an open discussion should be fostered instead of a single-minded indoctrination.

No. If they do, they lack basic professionalism.

I hate political statements in general, whether they be teachers, celebrities, or friends.

poor taste

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

This. When relevant, they are perfectly allowed to offer their personal perspective, as long as they don't let it affect the teaching/grading.

Teachers engage their students socially all the time, sharing view points is part of being social. It only becomes and issue of professionalism when their veiws interfere with their job.

UnitedBands.net

My band and artist networking/information site. Check it out!

My old Government teacher recently got in trouble for having a sign in her class that read "the road to hell is paved with democrats"...She just now got in trouble for it. It was hanging 4 years ago when I had her.

Granted this is S. Carolina I live in so they're not exactly tolerated around here.
