Subject: Cheap HDMI Cables?

http://theemc.net/

Small Community, Lots of Fun. We do Halo, Minecraft, and much more.

I am in the market for an HDMI cable, and I know that online they are much cheaper, looking at Amazon. But some of the reviews say that the quality isn't as good as some other ones. Is it worth the risk? Or should I shell out more than 3 dollars for one?

$.50 in store credit.

You should definitely spend more than $3 on one.

That's what I currently have, but I'm trying to save some cash. These 6 foot cables for <5 dollars look pretty good. Most of the reviews say its fine, but some people say that it has color issues, which I don't want.

Trust me, just shell out the extra ten bucks. You know you're getting quality instead of a risk.

Ah, the internet. Where men are men, women are men, and children are the FBI.

I spent like $3-4 on an HDMI for my main monitor, and Ive seen no issues with it.

Well thanks for making my decision, and one is only 10 bucks for 6 feet. Thanks!

wes smith

I bought one for $1 and it had the same quality as a $20 that i also have. I didn't use the $1 for long since it was only 3 feet long. If its more then $25 i would't buy it unless its 50+ feet.

I remember reading a thread about expensive cables and a guy said he took his boss's $1200 or more cable and replaced it with a $5 one and the boss didn't notice the difference.

All HDMI cables are the same.. gold or silver tips.. makes absolutely no difference. Why anyone would ever pay more than $5 for one is beyond me.

Here's a nice article explaining why if you choose.

Go for monster HDMI cables.
They're about 20 but they're worth it IMO

Never EVER spend more than $20, and even that is pushing it. Buy the cheapest cable you can, it will do the same thing. Those $100-$1500 cables will offer you no difference.

Last HDMI cable I bought was about $3 for my PS3 (for blu ray movies). Picture was still very clean.

Close, but the plague killed those infected with it, and the ignorant are still alive.
I wish ignorance was a plague.

Other than length, all HDMI cables are the same.

See you on the battlefield.

There is exactly zero difference between expensive and cheap HDMI cables. HDMI is a digital signal, it's either there or it isn't. There is no degradation in quality like you would have with analog component cables.

Anyone telling you otherwise is outright lying to you, and anyone trying to sell you expensive cables is trying to rip you off.

You're not going to have to replace a normal HDMI cable, and even so, buying two $3 cables is still better than spending $20.

OP, buy cheap, please please please. It's the one tech pro-tip I give all my friends.
