Does anyone here do gameplay videos or anything like that for the Xbox? I'm trying to find out what I'll need to start capturing Xbox 360 Gameplay and audio (party chat) and at the same obviously see. I've got no idea how a capture card or PVR works or the software needed. Is it major editing, etc.

I could use the help of anyone that knows about this kind of stuff.

Small Community, Lots of Fun. We do Halo, Minecraft, and much more.

I actually just ordered a capture card. It pretty much records the material and sends it to your computer for editing. Most gaming capture cards come with software, and a PVR costs more but provides better quality.

If you plan on making vidoes, save up for a PVR.

Not worth the cost in my opinion. I am a beginner, and this one I ordered is in HD. It comes with software, and I don't plan on making a living with it. I looked up some reviews, and it seemed good. Plus I got 40 dollars off of the regular price, so it is an even better deal.

I'm giving myself a week for a PVR but is it that much of a difference? Also what process is needed to get it rendered and uploaded. Is it something simple like just pressing record and then stopping it and its done and ready for upload (expect for optional editing)

Or is it some other way? How is the storage on it? The program on my PC uses up 1GB a minute and I then have to compress it. Is it the same?

Welcome, welcome to city 17...

if you want something with good quality and good software i'd personally go with this. captures in hd via HDMI and comes with all the software you need, free. not to mention that it's cheaper than most HD PVR's

I got myself a Dazzle a year ago for $90. The cost of an HD PVR is now $150. Buy a PVR, but make sure you also have a good computer.

I got a roxio about 3 dollars off.

I regret that so much. PVR is worth the money. Not to mention no time being frustrated.

I'd highly reccomend finding a video editing program for editing and rendering. If you need help finding a portable version (free, not exactly a torrent.) I could point you int he right direction. it can take a while, file sizes vary after capturing. just depends on the file type and settings.

Did you get the Roxio HD?

I <3 Halo:Reach - amazingly fun and best campaign + amazing Soundtrack
I <3 Halo 3:ODST - best soundtrack + Firefight + Coastal Highway and Mombassa Streets, amazingly unique campaign.
I <3 Halo 3 - best multiplayer levels + Forge + best Custom Games + soundtrack
I <3 Halo 2 - amazing huge fun campaign + soundtrack + Fun multiplayer
I <3 Halo: CE - started it all

I got around 3,500,000 views on YouTube from my Halo videos, and I use a Dazzle Platinum.

Let me tell you, DO NOT waste your money on this if you want to be serious with YouTube, buy a very high quality Capture card. Im getting a Black Magic Intensity Pro fro Christmas thanks to my awesome parents, but it cost $199.

I have used my Dazzel for about a year, and its good if you are just a starter to make average videos, but now that im starting to lift off on my channel, Its a necessary to have a High quality capture device.

I got the regular one, months before the Roxio HD came out.

The regular roxio is -blam!-. I highly recommend getting a different brand that records HD.

I'm thinking of getting this Roxio Game Capture HD Pro. Good? Bad?

The Wonderful LeSieg!

When Red vs. Blue was in its second or third season, I brought my parent's old VCR recorder out of the attic and recorded me and my friend playing Battlefront II trying to do what they did. It was mostly us staring somewhat off screen and yelling jokes about Hitler and copying lines from RvB.

I never got to put it on YouTube because I didn't know how to transfer VCR tapes to digital formats on the computer. I think the world is better for it.

Anyways, good luck OP! I literally have nothing to say that could assist you besides that story.

Ohai, I'm Loscocco (pronounced Loss-cocoa). I'm a college student (computer science major), 3D animator, and long-time Halo player.

-Get a capture card, such as an HD PVR
-Hook it up to your TV & Xbox
-Make sure your computer isn't complete garbage
-Hook it up to your computer via USB
-Capture it using either the software provided with the cap card, or get a different type of software (Sony Vegas, or EyeTV for Mac users)
-Export the footage to a video file
-Import the video file to editing software (such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Pinnacle Studios (garbage), or iMovie (decent))
-Edit the video
-Export the final project
-Upload to YouTube

Depending on what quality you use.

When I go home I can tell you exactly how much.

I can't remember but I think 1minute is about 200mb
