Subject: Does it make sense to compare G@y marriage to blacks?

Lets Boogie

I have noticed, here and other places/forums, that many people seem to compare what the g@y community is going threw whether it is for marriage/rights, to the civil rights era, and what blacks and other non-white races had to go through to get equal rights.

And they compare those who disagree with g@y marriage, with the racists who didn't want black & white interracial marriage.

Does this make any sense to compare these two groups/movements?

It does make sense to compare the movement, but I don't think the flood is the place to discuss this. This discussion sours quickly.

Yes, as they are both letters arranged to form one or more word in the English language, so they are indeed comparable.

The civil rights movement was about addressing the inequalities between whites and blacks. The ghey marriage movement is about addressing inequalities between straights and gheys.

Of course they're comparable.

No. No it does not.

Just remember that no matter how terrible you feel, or how much you want to let go, there are people who care about you and love you.

Because the inequality of -blam!- people stretches across institutions like school, voting, not being lynched in the south legally, not segregating everything and giving you the lower quality of the two, and other bad stuff.
Same principle.
Though it might not be as harsh, it's still there.

How are they different?

Lol. Thinking they had it as bad as blacks.
In the case of marriage equality, they do. Blacks not being able to marry whites is just as bad as two consenting adults of the same gender not being able to marry.

Who said they do? They face inequality, and will struggle with that inequality, no matter it's size. Almost equality isn't equality.

What is civil union. Gheys are allowed to be together.

Honestly the LGBT community is as productive and annoying as feminism. Stop accusing everything of discrimination and just complaining about it and playing victim. Sure, gheys should have a form of marriage, but they go so much further.

Wait, are we just talking about the interracial marriage thing or the entire segregation thing?
I thought this was about marriage. If you're talking about segregation and stuff, of course it isn't nearly as bad, but the marriage issue is.

For those looking to vent, get proper advice, or give it to those in need.

Yes and no. There's a long history of violence and bigotry against homo-blam!-s that still persists today. Was it on the same level that the African American community went through and still experiences? No. Why? Because homo-blam!-ity is easily concealed. Ethnicity can't be concealed.

Bigotry is bigotry and it should be fought. It's something to loathe no matter who it is against. Obviously the struggle for equal rights for same sex couples isn't the same as abolishing slavery. One is quite a bit more extreme there. But that does not discredit the hatefulness that exists today.

Not all states have them and they aren't recognized federally.

Try again.

You asked if the issues were comparable, not identical.
