Subject: Very Odd Habit...

What? Play a game? FOR FUN???
This concept of fun confuses and infuriates me!

Let me first say Welcome to The Maw!
With people naming the games the stupid way they do, they are mostly immature, or can't think of a name. Or both.
If you want a fun game, play on Igg's dedi server. Great fun to be had there, I'll tell you.

Acutually jumping has its benefits more than you would except. Let me explain,

1. jumping gives you more view of a view espically when your on the high ground and allows you to see places prviously you couldn't and shoot at that area with the rocket.

2. If someone is attacking you with nades or anything with splash damages, it can really really save your life. If you've jumped and it hit the ground beside, sometimes the jump will have gotten you far enough away to survive, and this could mean if you win the battle or lose. If your on a hill someone is trying to shoot you with a rocket or tank, you jump down from the hill, the damage won't get you becasue you jumped out of the area.

3. If theres lag, like say 150-180 ping and its a rocket start game, you jump, the person hits the ground below you, almost most of the time, you'll survive, and then you'll have a chance to kill the person.

People develop a instinct to jump while shooting becasue they've found it'll save your life sometimes while in a fire fight.

Now, I'm new, and I'd just like to say hi, and also state that I have seen rockets hit people numerous times and-der-he's still alive! I've stuck, smacked, swatted (With a Hog), smashed, sniped, and even stabbed (Needler) people and they just won't die! It reminds me of Austin Powers:WHY WON'T YOU DIE?!? or Serious Sam:Die when I kill you! It's driving me insane, and normally, my enemy gets a kill for it! (Guess who?) If you've seen me before (I'm Delta-4) and happen to be one of those people who happen to have gotten a cheap kill off of me, at least notify me! I've shot Banshees about TEN times with an RL and they still didn't die! Crazier than hell.

Well, anyway, back to the subject at hand, yes, it is a habit for me. It is responsible for about half of my kills due to the fact that it gives me the higher "ground" momentarily and it let's me get a good range on my enemy. I can see where they are and BOOM, they're dead. Normally, I'm either killed by another persons RL or we both kill eachother in one spectacular fireball. And what is it with people naming games whores and such nonsense?

Blame Gearbox for screwing up the netcode.

Yes, welcome to The Maw! (One of us! One of us! One of us!) It's time you got aquainted with one of the banes of Mac/PC gaming: lag. When you are playing with lag, you need to aim ahead of your target if you want to hit them. The higher the ping, the more you need to lead.

Ah, the 'whore' suffix.

One of the oldest terms of gaming, it is usually used to describe one who overuses one of the 'power' weapons (Ie. the RL, the sniper, and the FRG). Example: ZOMG j00 4r3 teh FRG wh0r3! CORTANAWTF NO ZERG RUSH WTF!!!1

we r?

I jump because if they fire, they get less splash damage, however it makes me prone to sniping people. I also lead my shots too.

Well, if I miss my first rocket shot on the banshee, I jump to avoid the wing and try again.

Oh, you mean vs single opponents?

Pros - assuming both sides armed with rockets and fire at once, less splash damage, harder for an insta-kill body shot, easier to target the ground under the opponent.

Cons - If on a normal server, easy target for snipers, pistols or anything with instant-hit or near instant-hit capability.

On an RL only server I jump all the time.

That's the disadvantage of jumping with the rocket launcher. A decent sniper or a decent pistol user will just kill you if you jump, because once you do, you can't change directions and so you move predictably. I have three shot killed and sniped many players who've jumped with the rocket launcher.

But that's why you only do it on rocket servers.

Another reason people do it (I can't believe I left this out) is because if you're facing an enemy only a meter or so away, jumping backwards from your opponent will not only reduce damage if they fire a rocket at you, but also from your own rocket. People do it so they don't end up blasting themselves along with their enemy.
