I think the Reclaimer trilogy will become the definitive Halo experience. Yeah the first trilogy was about the Human-Covenant War, but this trilogy is focusing on the true nature of Halo's story, the Forerunners and possibly beyond.

No. It will not.

The Halo 4 story is a perversion of the Halo story line, simply created to drag out the series and milk it for more money.

You may feel that way, but to me it feels like this new direction is a few steps backward, but mostly foward.

How so?

The second a forerunner came out of a giant egg and started force choking the chief.

That means at least it could hold up until the end of the 3rd mission...

Writing quality.

Writing quality... silent protagonist and a crew of cliche characters going on an adventure "inspired" by someone else's story. I'm not seeing it at all.

You just described the entire original trilogy (again, without analysis).

The Arbiter had little-to-no character development in Halo 3.

Halo 2 was best Arbiter.

This thread just got real.

Halo 4 had a bad campaign, story and gameplay/mission objectives. It could have been a lot more. I thought the Halo 4 console looked really cool but after playing the game I'm starting to hate it.

Promethian Knights are more boring to fight than the brutes in Halo 2.

When did the Didact learn how to use the force?

I fail to see how a story with ten wide open plot points being expanded and concluded is considered "milking" anyway.

And a Forerunner coming out of an egg? What is a cryopod but a cylindrical egg? That's somehow less stupid?

And Force choking the Chief is unbelievable when the Forerunners had total control over gravity?

Are you implying the original trilogy was written badly?

If so, I'm inclined to disagree.

And I'm sure as hell inclined to disagree that Halo 4 was bad. Check out my post earlier in this thread.

After Halo CE everyone started hating Halo. No matter how they change it you will still hate it.

Fixed that for you.

Halo CE didn't have multiplayer and players love the multplayer experience but when Reach was released people didn't like it as much
yes it did, I've had plenty of 8 on 8 system link matches. It just required enough of a social life to gather friends.

I played plenty of Blood Gulch CTF but it's not the same as Xbox Live. Halo 2 was when the real online experience started.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

You have your opinion, but I think the trilogy is off to a good start.

-respect and evolution of Halo's thematic principles

-subtle evolutions of Chief's character (especially through his dialogue in the last scene as he tries approaching the conflict at hand normally at first, and then realizes that he has truly lost this time)

-"AI is more human than the humans"

-"Broken character becomes human trying to save the human character from becoming broken"

-several metaphors and allegories (ex. how Chief's body armor, for the first time, is taken off at the end of the game- symbolizing how the level headed, always calm, damn near stubborn Chief has become human)

Wow, this "perversion" seems to be better written than every single effort Bungie has ever made with the series! I guess I really like perversion!
All those minor improvements became irrelivent when God came down and told Chief he was literally the "chosen one." What's that, Cortana? You chose Chief because of luck? NOOOOOOO, you prick!!! You chose him because of Midichlorians!!!

Yes.

LET'S COMPLETELY IGNORE HALO 3'S FINAL TERMINAL WHICH BASICALLY SAID MENDICANT BIAS HAD BEEN GUIDING HIM TO THE EVENTS OF THE RECLAIMER TRILOGY ALL ALONG AND INSTEAD FOCUS ON SOMETHING THAT IS A COMPLETE RESPECT OF ONE OF HALO'S MAIN THEMES (that humanity, and Chief in particular, has a far greater role in the grand scheme of things).

it was the librarian, preserver of the mantle's creatures, not "God" as you called it, it makes sense if you actually think about it. The librarian was fearful of another outbreak/ didact trying to claim vengance on the humans so she created a "hero gene" in the humans to make sure if that's the case, the future holder of the mantle don't go out the same way.

And Force choking the Chief is unbelievable when the Forerunners had total control over gravity?
That's not the point. Having an all powerful, impossible to fight being just suddenly appear in Halo when there have been no other such gravity manipulation mechanics presented or even referenced to at any point in any Halo game is stupid. It's -blam!- Darth Vader in Halo with no motivation except to just be a dick. I guarantee that at least 80% of the Halo players have any idea who or what the hell the Didact is since he's only been mentioned in the books, anyway. Cortana and Chief also know what they're looking at when they see him, despite no reference to him in any of the Halo games with Chief and Cortona. No explanation or anything, just "Whelp, that's a Diadu- OH -blam!-, DARTH VADER'S IN HALO!!!"

hey dip-blam!-, maybe if you actually invested your damned time in to the series you seem to like and read the books you've had 10 YEARS to read you'd know that the forerunners have that kind of power, it's your damned fault that you can't understand the story 12 books, and 7+ games in.

Yeah I felt like Halo 4 was rushed and the only reason 343 is there as a company is for Microsoft to get as much money out of the Halo franchise as possible.
