This is just stupid.

This country is going down hill, why should insulting people become illegal? We are turning into a dictatorship, I hope this doesn't happen.

I don't mind punishing for racisism but everybody over here takes the mick out of each other for a laugh its called banter, guess that could be illegal to.

What are your thoughts on this?

They don't have free speech over there. This isn't a new story or shocking development.

That just means we can't speak out against the goverment through protest and what not, we can still voice our opinions, or else you'd think we all like David Cameron.

This country is going down hill

The article said itself that the law was created 26 years ago. How is the country only going downhill now?

Why should racism get special treatment? How is it any different to insulting someone with different words?

That's not really political correctness. Political correctness is not being able to smoke in your car if a child is going to be in it.

So I can now perturb the -blam!- outta the UK online and they can't do anything about it?

I wish you could taste our delicious freedom, Yuropoors. At least you have your kangaroos and shrimp on the barbee though.

lolno

OT - Public order offenses are nothing new and don't cover just insulting someone at all OP.

If you called someone a -blam!- once because they were being a -blam!- then it's not an offense.

If you ran down a street shouting "slag" at a random girl for no reason it would be an offense and, to be honest, you'd deserve to get arrested.

Racism isn't just words. For example not giving a qualified person the job, purely on the basis that they're black is racism.

I'm going to invade your heart like a barn swallow high on milk chocolate and grandma love.

Fairness is only possible within the limited powers of man. Elsewhere, there is only chance.

Thus I refute thee.

Strange alliances have been formed to call for a change in the law to allow people to insult each other without fear of prosecution.

Recon Number 54 -
If they are still looking, then while holding the snarl, I let drool start to drip from my mouth, I stand, curl my fingers into claws and with a hunched over crouch, I then make slow and deliberate steps towards them. When I get close enough, I let them hear my agonized and gasping growls and then, if they continue to stare, when I get within arm's reach? I kiss them on the nose, and run away giggling.

I look forwards to it being repealed.

People need to grow a thicker skin, criminal charges being brought up over name calling is dumb.

We already have enough anti discrimination laws to cover just about every niche of the UK, we don't need one making being rude a punishable offence.

That's different I'm talking about if I said the n word in front of a police officer I would be arrested if I said anything else I wouldn't. Why?

I live in the UK and have first hand experience of this.

Friend of mine got arrested, actually had to go to court for telling someone to "-blam!- off".

I then got arrested for calling the policeman out on his bull-blam!-. Turning into a dictatorship over here.

Americans don't act like the U.S is any better.

You swore at a Policeman.

Did you expect to not be arrested?
