I've got a fan!

They violated a militarized border during a ceasefire, and then complain that they got tear gas tossed at them and their tractor was shot?

Israel did not "open fire on civilians".

Residents from Khuza'a said they have not planted in this area, declared a closed military zone by Israel, for the past thirteen years.

Farmers were under the impression that this area was now accessible after the November 21st ceasefire's stipulations that Israeli forces would "refrain from targeting residents in the border areas" and to "stop all hostilities in the Gaza Strip land, sea and air including incursions and targeting of individuals."

The area isn't just a border area, it's a "closed military zone". The ceasefire isn't an open invitation to violate those boundaries.

Shouting "we have no weapons" doesn't make it true, and Israel handled it the way they should have expected, the same way Israel's been doing it for 13 years apparently.

So throwing a few tear gas canisters in a field in front of people and shooting a tractor counts as open firing on civilians?

  • 12.13.2012 9:50 AM PDT

But it's okay if Israel does anything. They are the ones who are occupying the land!
They are the good guys.

You don't generally throw tear gas at people who have done nothing wrong.

  • 12.13.2012 9:52 AM PDT

I don't care. Let them all kill each other.

Worse things go on all over the world we don't know about.

I don't care.

Except for violating the boundary of a "closed military zone". Derp.

Doesn't sound like they new about that, they were still innocent people.

Studies show that men think about sex every 7 seconds. I do my best to eat hotdogs in under 6, just so things don't get weird.

Please allow me to introduce Myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul and faith

Given the "source" is 'Mondoweiss: The War of Ideas in the Middle East,' I would say the claim is dubious at best.

Oh, I am sure that there were shots fired, and that Israel was involved. Of that I have no doubt. But that they fired on "Farmers and unarmed solidarity protestors" as the article says.

Though I have to ask, what is a "Solidarity Protestor"? Are they protesting solidarity? I digress.

This looks like the faux liberalism that has for whatever reason, found it cool to hate on Israel.

It was outdoors and they didn't even throw it directly at them. Besides, it still doesn't constitute "open firing" on civilians; they didn't actually shoot at the civilians.

Lol

Of course they knew about it. This is how those people operate; play innocent victim after being provocative on purpose.

That was by no means an attack... It was warning shots into the ground and 3 tear gas canisters which were easily avoided. And assuming the mark in the tractor at the end was the place it was shot, I can almost guarantee you it was by no means a direct shot at the tractor, probably a ricochet. A directly aimed shot would have punched right through the tractor's outer shell, especially when fired from a trained soldier.

How on Earth could they not know about it if it's been that way for 13 years, and Israel apparently regularly bulldozes the area and patrols it.

Yes they're innocent, which is why nobody was hurt.

im sorry but the second i see that activists were there i know this article is skewed against israel.

edit: whoever had the camera in the video was clearly not 100 meters from the fence unless the first soldier was 10 ft tall
