Video stores are dying because they failed to meet and beat what the competition was offering: Ease and convenience.
I just went down to my local Blockbuster after god only knows how many years to try and rent a DVD. At Redbox, if there's no line, it takes 30 seconds. It took them five minutes and the on duty manager to find my information. And that's not counting the time I had to spend browsing through the isles trying to find what I wanted. When I asked if I could just rent it without submitting any info, since they have my credit card info and can just bill to that, they said they couldn't.
No wonder there's only three Blockbusters within a 100 miles of where I live.
