You wake up one morning to find out you cannot move. You know you are awake. No matter what, you are paralyzed and sometimes cannot even open your eyes. You may or may not feel or see an evil presence lurking about, making your situation a living nightmare. After a minute or so, you are back to normal as if nothing happened. Has this ever happened to you?

I'm going to invade your heart like a barn swallow high on milk chocolate and grandma love.

Fairness is only possible within the limited powers of man. Elsewhere, there is only chance.

Thus I refute thee.

Nah.

I'm pretty sure this happened to me when I was really young, around 5 or 6. I remember having a vision of me in my bed but I couldn't move and there were scary monsters all around me.

I would always fall asleep in my intro to film production class in 11th grade and every single day I'd experience it. I think one time I willed myself to move my finger once, but that took a lot of effort.

Studies show that men think about sex every 7 seconds. I do my best to eat hotdogs in under 6, just so things don't get weird.

Please allow me to introduce Myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul and faith

Yeah. I really have had this happen.

I was having a dream and then I realized that I was partially awake. The weird part is the dream bled into reality. I guess this is common. I dreamed my cats were hissing at the guys who broke into my house. They were really pale, and had strange glasses on that made their eyes look really big. I dreamed that they took me someplace and did a bunch of tests on me. Then they implanted something in my belly and put me back.

I'm thinking that the way they looked was from my cats, as one is white with big eyes. Also, the implantation I am pretty sure was from one of my cats scratching me, as I did have a small scratch where I was cut. So, my theory is that my cats got into a fight on my bed,m which woke me up enough to have the sleep paralysis nightmare, and that I was scratched in their fight.

Wizzy

It ONLY happens when I take a mid-day nap (which is rare), but it happens multiple times. I often find I can't breathe during it, which startles me awake.

Weird feeling

Corn, Oil, and Wine... We need more wine...

Used to be a daily occurrence. Calmed down a few years ago though and now it's not very frequent, maybe once or twice a month.

The Internet is an empowerment tool that's agnostic; it doesn't care about race, gender, or age.

Nope.

Why don't we just share the hill?

Yes, It's a weird experience.

  • 12.13.2012 3:11 PM PDT

Has happened to me a lot of times. A very awful feeling indeed.

I feel now so grateful of having full control and awareness of my body. It sucks when your eyelids do not want to obey you :(

  • 12.13.2012 3:12 PM PDT

Yes, it happened on a weekly basis for about a 2 months, about 2 years ago. I haven't had it happen in about 4 months now and that was the first time this year. All of mine were very dark and demonic. I even had two OBE's during a few, weird -blam!-.

I experienced it when I was taking my medication, and one of its known causes are psycho-stimulants.

I had a form of sleep paralysis this morning. I thought I woke up and stood by my bed at my dorm. I looked at my dorm door and a clone of it fell down and floated down right beside me. (This whole time I knew I was dreaming but could not shake it). Than everything turned into a gray mist and black figures with an oval-like shape began to float towards me. I decided to attempt to shake violently and I woke up.

On the Left

Godshatter: I can go all the way with someone without being attracted to them.
CamCamm: How does that work?
Godshatter: I'm easily aroused by anything that moves. It's a curse.
Brain says 'No, that's ugly', body says 'ugly is fine with me'.

Apparently it happened to my girlfriend when I was about to get home.

I drove for an hour or so, she knocks out. I get home, try to wake her up gently. She opens her eyes, says something and doses back to sleep. But I guess she not really "sleeping" At this time, my dad is tapping on the window trying to wake her. She still out. a minute later she wakes up all worried and scared.

Apparently, she was trying to wake up, say something, raise her hand but she couldn't. She was "awake" while my dad was tapping the window but she couldn't hear it but sensed him there.

She was freaked out. So I dropped her off her house and took her car to my place.

No, but I've been so tired that it has taken me 30 minutes just to start waking up after I started trying to get up. That was pretty hectic.

I am a pharmaceutical scientist. I received my Masters degree in Pharmaceutics from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia in 2010, after working as a Pharmacist for 4 years. I currently work in King of Prussia, PA, and focus on the analytical chemistry of small molecule APIs. My clients include some of the most well known big pharma companies in the world.

I have had this happen to me, albeit a seldom occurrence.

It happened to me once, only a few months ago. I was able to open my eyes and look around the room. I would say it was a rather interesting experience.
