Put some effort into the campaign/Spartan Ops. There are some nice set piece moments but the PvE gameplay has always been pretty awful. Seriously, you've got two factions, one with three types of enemies and the other with four, and then some vehicle gameplay... That's all? A fair chunk of people have put more than a thousand hours into ME3's MP because it has 4 unique factions with a variety of iconic enemies.

So, with that said, I'd buff out the Covvies, bringing back a number of older aliens in a revamped form like the Drones and Engineers, and add in some completely new aliens. Then I'd combine the Prometheans into the Sentinel faction and buff that out, adding a variety of large Sentinel enemies to face and making the existing sentinel enemies a little more diverse and iconic. Lastly, I'd add in a completely new enemy faction. Possibly something along the lines of human-like enemies.

Then, buff out the guns and make them all useful and usable. There shouldn't be "noob guns". I don't mind if people congregate around the usage of a few weapons as long as the weapon is mathematically competitive and in the hands of skilled players who prefer the weapon against other skilled players it can get kills. Also, I'd change the reliance in PVE around Plasma Pistol + Headshot. Not really by just bringing the hammer hard on the PP repeatedly, but by making other enemy types who can negate that style of play.

Finally, focus on a good array of maps. Visuals and thematic sense should be secondary to making the maps as fun and/or competitive as possible.

And if AAs must be added, no defensive AAs. You don't want to slow the pace of the game down with that type of stuff. No AL, no HL, no regen. Sheeit, if it were up to me, I think I'd probably get rid of AAs in general. Holding sprint forward = sprint, jerking to the side, forward, or back = you stay in first person view and thrust that direction while allowing for camera movement. Kill times would have to adjust around that.

Your 'beliefs' mean less than dick to me.

CAMPAIGN
-More linear, not just go to each area and press 3 buttons.
-Elites definitely return, in some capacity. For MP they'd be customs only, though.
-Mythic difficulty officially exists, once you beat legendary.
-Skulls scattered throughout campaign.
-Emphasize a variety of environments in different levels. One takes place in a mostly snowy area. Another one in a desert. Another one in space. Another one in a utopia-style setting. And so on.

MULTIPLAYER
-CE style sandbox. Powerful and minimalist.
-CE's player spawn system.
-Weapon spawn system would be cyclical. Rockets would always spawn every 2 minutes regardless of when they're picked up.
-Powerups would return. Speed boost and damage boost are gone.
-Gametypes: Slayer, CTF, oddball, KOTH, territories, extraction, infection, race.
-From an aesthetics standpoint, 2v2/4v4 maps would take place in indoor arenas, while BTB maps would be set outdoors.
-13 maps. 6 small symmetrical maps, 3 small asymms, 4 BTB. Each set of maps would have a different archetype layout.

For example, of the 6 symmetricals, there would be:
-A bottleneck map (think Longest or Narrows)
-A two base, two tower map (think Midship or Onslaught)
-An inverse symmetrical (think Sanctuary or Enclosed)
-A simple arena (Derelict, Zealot, or Haven)
-A 4 way symmetrical (Wizard or Foundation kinda)
-A fortress style, very base-oriented map (Battle Creek, Pit, or Citadel)

The 3 small asymms would consist of:
-A compact, multi-leveled asymm (Lockout or Guardian)
-A heavily vertical, offense-defense oriented asymm (Damnation or Construct)
-A room based asymm (Chill Out, Turf, or Condemned)

All would be compact, 2v2 and 4v4 friendly, and have a vertical component to them.

GENERAL
-Aside from weapons and maybe the occasional UNSC space station, human environments are stricken from the game in favor of a more alien setting.
-Armor abilities, ordnance, sprint, and loadouts are gone.
-Less CoD, more quake.
-Add something similar to the jump boots from Unreal Tournament.
-Weapon attachments is something I'd consider. Not necessarily do, just consider.
-Spartan ops is gone. Firefight more than likely returns, with tweaks.
-Some unlockables require all achievements to be completed.

Not a full list, just off the top of my head.

-Forerunner vehicles
-Forerunner and human bladed weapons of some kind
-return of the Sentinel Beam
-return of the Chopper, Spectre, and Hornet
-Pelicans, Phantoms, and civilian vehicles in Forge
-three massive Forge worlds--human, Covenant, and Forerunner--with matching palettes
-insane amount of customisation options
-I would keep all of Halo 4's changes as options

Armour
-bring back ODST, CQB, and MK V
-armour skins are completely separated from armour sets--any skin can be applied to any armour
-armour sets now include legs and forearms; no more random arm and leg armours that don't match the other armour pieces
-return of armour effects
-single-colour visors are now just a colour wheel; special two and three shifting colour visors are still unlocks

Campaign
-visit one of the 5 Halos we haven't seen yet (ZOMG it's Halo 5 and there's 5 unseen Halos!!!)
-visit a glassed human colony that's in the process of rebuilding (probably because it has some important hidden Forerunner site/artifact)
-visit someplace that has Brutes and Drones
-bring back campaign scoring and campaign matchmaking

Co-op
-something that's a hybrid of Firefight and Spops (haven't really thought about it)

Ill take as long as it needs to be done and not rush. I'd basically be pulling a Bioshock Infinite release if I have to. I would divide multiplayer into rank, Reclaimer, and social. Both playlists will have BTB, Slayer, Team Slayer, Team Objectives, SWAT, BTB Objectives, Team Snipers, Multi-Team.

Rank would have a 1-50 and will feature Halo 3 spawn time, Halo 2 bullet magnetism, AA pickups, default weapons, no waypoints over flag carrier or auto pickup on objectives, and friendly fire on.

Social will have same thing as above but friendly fire is OFF and no ranks. It will have Action Sack and Community, a playlist which features community made games and maps.

Reclaimer, this playlist is the same as rank but with Halo 4 gameplay.

Forge and Custom games will have as many features as Halo: Reach with any news features in Halo 4. Meaning if you liked Halo 4 then you can make a custom game that plays just like it. Forge will have tools like Far Cry 3 which means you can place AI and edit terrain.

Campaign, I don't know. I thought Halo 4 campaign was a load of bull so whatever crap 343 has I guess it would be the same.

I incorporate all the custom game options from all previous games and then some. Same with forge tools. I make a forge world type map as well as two other Forge friendly maps for variation. Multiplayer stays the same as Halo 4 gameplay wise but ordinance drops are random and are not called in personally. Armor abilities go away. Support and tactical packages stay. Equipment makes a return and is dropped on the map in the aforementioned ordinance drops. Also loadout options contain UNSC weapons only.

Then...idk I figure out campaign.

Campaign:

-Covenant enemies can now spawn with more than 1 gun and can switch between them at will (intelligently)
-Battlewagons do not use Scattershots but may use Incineration Cannons
-no sword Elite can lunge but they can all leap melee. Sword Rangers jump longer distances and more tactically. Elite Rangers are more likely to spawn with swords
-Hunters finally try to flip Hogs instead of letting it crash into them. Hunters try to dive from Wraith splatter attempts. Hunters charge with their shield raised to defend their necks. It's now possible to board Hunters and plant a grenade but only when their back armor has come off. It's now possible to remove their stomach armor
-Zealots no longer throw grenades but they still use camo, and at will
-Generals no longer exist, Ultras are back (only when Thunderstorm is on) and pull out swords when you try to use a power weapon on them
-Banshee has hover. Ghost has CE bouncy physics. Hog has CE bouncy physics and only flips from a well placed explosive. Shade can be pushed around with any vehicle. Scorpion moves faster, Wraith has Halo 2/3 boost. Hornet and Falcon are back. Revamped Revenant. Spectre's back with it's trademark traction. Chopper's back
-revert Covie comm node to Halo 3. Revert Covie supply case to Halo: Reach. Revert Covie deployable lookout tower to Halo 2 or Halo 3. Halo 3 comm nodes could be used for tactical jumping, as blockades, and as a plank (for getting to higher ground). Halo 4 comm nodes are so heavy and have no practical use at all. Halo 4 lookout towers are ridiculous. You can get stuck in the grav lift and there's barely any roaming space on the platform. The top piece is also heavy. Halo 4 supply cases are slippery
-marines are easily pushed around, marines are damage sponges with decent range and RoF (a la Halo 2) because they will never be as good as the enemies
-Spartans have a faster and more brutal melee, normal health, only have 1 diving animation (rolling to the side)
-allies share seats like in Halo 2 (instead of persistently pursuing the vehicle so they can get in their favorite seat, even if it means disregarding nearby enemy threats...)

Yeah I'm very disappointed with the enemy AI. And the vehicles. And the scenery objects. And the friendly AI.

I'll be updating this post to vent my frustrations in a calm, organized manner. Thanks for this topic op!

I originaly made an account on 07.27.2007 but I wanted to link my GT and made this account. Don't forget your passwords!

For the multiplayer, I clone Halo 3 and make it look amazing.
New vehicles include a Troop-hog (holds 4) and raft.
There will be a custom game option about wether people in passenger seats see in first person or third.
Camo will have four modes: good static, bad static, dynamic, and good dynamic.
It will also have Race, King of the Hill, Assualt, Infection, and Juggernaught.
You have the option to not reset the map when a new round starts.
The game will run in 60fps.
Firefight and forge will make a return from Halo: Reach, in all their glory.
You can play as Elites.
All players will start out the same, unless the gamemode's settings do something.
The Armor system will be similar to Reach'es, but with usual armor unlocked easily and cool armor unlocked with time.
There will be a public beta, it will come with the Halo: Pinball ($20) game.

I would make the Campaign based around the player. Good story and realistic dialog. Make it so things you do (Like destroying an AA gun before it depletes your forces) would come back to help, or harm you, later. Make a less linear Campaign and make it more explorable, with skulls, terminals, easter eggs, and hidden weapons. Super jumps allow access to secrete rooms.

Mutliplayer would be like Halo 3 with AA's replacing Equipment. Small, medium, and large balanced maps for competitive play added. Balanced weapons, more custom game/character customization.

Chest, helmet, thigh, and shoulder attachments available. (Ammo, radios, health) Helmet, Chest, Shoulder, Thigh, Forearm, Knee, and Shin armor customization. Full color pallet. Choice between Spartan-II MJOLNIR style, Spartan-III MJOLNIR style, or Spartan-IV MJOLNIR GEN-2 style. Elite or Spartan choice.

Forge would support different texture types, and more variety in the objects. More colorful maps.

Theater would have options to disable announcer, medals, and text scrawl.

Machinima gamemode with lowering weapons/dropping weapons and other Machinima goodies. Return of classic games.

Spartan OPs with more spice in the missions, rather than pressing a button and killing everything. Firefight on ODST styled maps with your choice of playing as a Marine or ODST.
