Why are you here?

Did anyone else kind of catch this?

I loved Halo 4, but the only thing that bothered me in the game was the way Didact was presented. He seemed too small.

The Didact was said to be around 15 feet tall. Let's compare this to Master Chief, who is 7 feet and 2 inches in his armor. Didact is quite literally over two times the size of Chief. But in-game, Chief is over half as tall as him as you can see in the cutscene at the end of the level 'Forerunner'. Didact was supposed to be absolutely towering, even compared to Master Chief. Another thing to note is even in the terminals, the other Prometheans under his command are around the same height.

Is there an explanation for this? I know when he was trying Flood immunity tests it distorted his face a bit, but I don't think it altered his height. Did 343 just overlook it? What do you guys think?

...Is it ever stated if the Didact in the game is the Ur-Didact or Bornsteller Didact?

I'm only about halfway through the campaign.

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

It's the Ur-Didact. They never bother to say, but it is the only thing that makes sense.

What a waste....

Probably for gameplay purposes. They'd then have to make all the Prometheans like 15 feet tall, or if they didn't it would be strange. It also might spoil it; if the Prometheans are only like 7 feet while the Didact is 15, people would guess the twist rather early.

I dont think this is true, The game never calls the promethians the forerunner. The Didact is a forerunner. Id much rather had seen the Didact as described in Cryptum.

Something witty.

I know I'm nitpicking, but I'm pretty sure Prometheans, (Knights specifically) are about 12 feet tall. For comparisons to Master Chief in height, try assassinating one. It's kinda funny how he just crawls over them.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

Glory and fame, blood is our name!
Souls full of thunder, hearts of steel!
Killers of men, a warrior's friend!
Sworn to avenge our fallen brothers!
Sons of the gods, today we shall die.
Open Valhalla's door!
Let the battle begin, with swords in the wind! Hail Gods of War!

Yeah, there's a few shots where they're almost standing level; there's a height difference.

On waypoint, it says they are just one inch short of hitting 10 feet. Those things are huge.
OT: Didact is smaller than I expected. I thought he would be much taller, but he is only about a foot taller than Chief. He is large, but much smaller than expected.

In Cryptum, it took around a week for the Didact to regain his full physical stature after being released from the Cryptum, and that was after a mere nap in comparison to his 100,000 year slumber.

I hope this is the case. I'd like to see him in full stature in Halo 5.

Well, the Prometheans we fight are robots. Their shape doesn't even appear to be based on Forerunners.
