Subject: Who would you respect more?

Signatures are for little kids.

OP, are you John?

Because a guy like Steve would be unlikely to have any insight about his own bad traits and make this thread about himself.

And if they were both made up people who aren't real I can't see the point in the whole thing.

My name is Steve...

Stop talking about me behind my back bro.
Would it help you if I said my first and middle is "Steven Tyler"?

The Flood's resident metalhead.

Ehh... I mean Steve did seem like a tool from the sound of it, but John flipping out about stuff would kind of bother me, even if he did seem more genuine. I honestly thought Steve would be better than John, at least that's how these reverse psychology threads usually work.

>Steve is always very nice
>Steve treats his friends poorly

wtf

Without The Flood, I wouldn't know what an opinion is.

I chose John because I hate beautiful people.

  • 12.13.2012 8:10 PM PDT

I don't see you doing anything to help our country.
Except sitting at home, naked, eating twinkies, rubbing your hands together going "Heh. Target Destroyed. Mission Accomplished." Oh wait. that's not helping.

I don't care about either, you also made it painfully obvious who was the asshat of the two.
Ah see but that is the beauty of it, it was painfully obvious for you because of your perceptions developed by experiences you've had. Look at the others who voted Steve, it's all a matter of how you perceive people.

  • 12.13.2012 8:10 PM PDT

Honestly it was actually easy to know how both of them truly acted because most normal people fit into either of those to personalites

  • 12.13.2012 8:11 PM PDT

Aspiring filmmaker

I voted for John because he seemed very down to earth.

  • 12.13.2012 8:12 PM PDT

Your average nice guy on The Flood.... D: ..... WAIT A MINUTE....

Voted for John, and John turned out to be the good guy. I could tell from the initial description that Steve was pure, living, breathing hubris taking the form of a deceptively "nice" individual.

No, it was just really easy to know who was who...you sorta made it painfully obvious in your OP.

If you see this post in your topic I'm sorry to tell you but your topic is dying.

Steve sounded like a narcissist from the beginning, so I voted John.

My perceptions didn't change. I voted for John because besides the "speak then think" part, that is pretty much me.

Sounds like you're describing the lower half of my body, actually.

A bit. Just a little bit.

I'm watching you!

So what exactly made you pick John? When I wrote the first part I can say that Steve stuck out to me as the better of the two. While these are not based on actual people, they were developed by a conglomerate of perceptions we all have about people.

I would sooner respect the guy who is nice and makes sure people think well of him, than the guy who is nice but doesn't seem to care if his reputation is tarnished.

Given the second part the vote is of course for John. I guess people voting for John just shows that many of us have predetermined judgements based on past experiences.

You made it blatantly obvious what kind of person Steve was as opposed to John. Also, the perfect friend wouldn't have those "flip-outs".

Yeah, we get that, but the thing is the majority voted John because you made it extremely obvious that he was a good guy. Like, there was no competition whatsoever- he was the good guy.

  • 12.13.2012 8:19 PM PDT

Just remember that no matter how terrible you feel, or how much you want to let go, there are people who care about you and love you.

Voted John and would keep my vote.

I can see that. Bad on my part I suppose. I meant to highlight his flip outs as a very big negative. As in I hate you you're a -blam!- eater, go and die in a hole. That kind of flip out.

Again, I had too many similarities with John to NOT vote for him. But even just reading the first paragraph, John seems more human. He has more emotion and the fact he doesn't seem to try to be liked by everyone makes him seem the better choice. He realizes that not everyone has to like a person. Since he isn't trying to be liked by everyone, it shows a bit more of self confidence; that he is secure in who he is and not seeking, (what's the word, ah I can't think of it) his worth from the opinions of others.

That's why I picked him over Steve in the first paragraph.

>Guy who does some moderately good stuff every once in a while but makes sure everyone knows about it

At the very least he's arrogant as hell.

I hate beautiful people.

Also you terribly biased your own results by telling people beforehand there was were "secret details" and that you'd "see if our opinions change". If anyone reads that, you can bet they'll second guess whichever one would have at first seemed appealing. It's rare that the twist is "There is no twist, everything was as it seemed".

It also deals with who we are asking for the opinions of. Let's face it, the majority of the Flood are nerds, myself included. We weren't popular in school. We weren't unpopular, we would be the average people who don't stand out. John is written much more to appeal to that kind of people then Steve is.
