too:doormat90. hang'em high is some what of a mix of close quarters and out in the open. there are some very high spots and a lot of hiding places. it is difficult to use the sniper rifle (for me anyway) unless you are shooting from one base to the other. but if u try this be VERRRRY careful because if someone on the other side has a smiper rifle and has a quicker trigger finger than you, you will end up on your face. anyhoo, i would love to see hang'em high in halo3. however, i think some changes need to be made. they need to make the map cover a more broad area. i also think that fall damage needs to come back. it is something that elite players used to be able to use to their advantage, and it tought noobs to watch their step.

lol. no. if you had the computer version there were several maps that were better than hang'em high. don't get me wrong though. i love hang'em high and there isn't an ounce of disrespect for it in me. definetly a kick ass level that needs to be brought back.

yes there were more than 117 spartans. if you read the three halo novels, The Fall of Reach, The Flood, and First Strike, you will have a very thorough knowledge of the halo universe. ever wonder where those pelicans came from, or how Keys, The Chief, and everyone else found halo? What about how the Chief got back to Earth? Halo was hundreds of billions of kilometers from Earth and Chief's longsword surely didn't have a Slipspace engine. read these books to find the answers to almost all of your questions about halo.

Does Spartan >>>>117<<<<< ring a bell? Well, there were more (than 117) Spartans too.

NOOOOOOOO. Hang 'Em High was just an open boring place with a few walkways and randomized little stubs scattered around the greound for who-knows-what-reason. The only thing that map was good for was me and my friends' infamous "death valley", hundreds of dead bodies in the bottom center valley-type pit. Also it's way too open and easy to shoot each other. If they HAVE to bring it back they better change A LOT of things. I like it when maps make "sense" or even have their own "stroy". Like Headlong is a construction site that turned into a warzone and containment is a flood containment area. It adds mood to the level. Hang 'Em High did nothing.

As much as I love that level, my answer is no. Hang 'Em High is my favorite level of all time in any game. I just believe that they got it right in H1 and that they shouldn't mess with it again. Besides, that level wouldn't be half as much fun without the pistol. It's like Sidewinder, why mess with something that's perfect already?

Hang'em would -blam!- only if there was a simlar gun to the H1 pistol. The open pistol battles across map is what made the level so great.

Major_Payn3 I respected your opinion of not bringing Hang'em back until i saw you wanted Chiron back. Chiron is one of the worst Halo maps made in all Halo games.

Chiron wasn't actually that confusing once you realised that the teleporters actually just boosted you directly forward a bit; a lot of people thought that they just brought you out at a completely different location.

The inbalance created by halo 2 weapons that made hang em high not an ideal choice of maps was the fact that most of halo 2's weaponry has been switched to closer range spam with even the medium range rifles not quite as effective (BR not as effective as old Pistol on a mpa that requires long range accuracy).

Also the entire destruction of non recharching health in halo 2 made the game play feel switch dramatically.

In halo 1 hang em high game play was a beautiful compilation of skill where players would snipe each other out to weaken the foe health wise and then move in for the bloody finale up close with shotguns and ARs to finish off the weaker player.

Now with halo 2's non accountable health system the whole art of damaging and pinning your foe is thrown out because if I damage an enemy across the map andf even if I break his shields and hit his health, he has plenty of cover to hide behind while he regains his health completely over 15 seconds.

This, I feel is the largest issue affecting hang em high not being in halo 2. Otherwise I have played mods using the Hang em high map in halo 2 and it plays fine with the exception that the no accountable health system ruins the game play of that map. Also with medium range rifles made weaker due to non accountable health damage, it makes sniper rifles all the more deadly as they can kill instantly while other players are left with weapons which need consistant damage to land a kill in a sytem which regenerates instantly.

I personally blame recharging health the most for not tossing in my favorite halo map.

Sidewinder, would have been pretty messed up since the rocket has lock-on.

That makes no sense.. It only locks on to vehicles not people.

Hang Em Hang is better off being something to remember and repeatedly asked for by people who can't move on. You have to let go of the past if you want a better future.....
Lol.

But anyway, most of the H1 levels were pointless. I mean, they had no feel. Just, like empty plain metal boxes. Halo, gave more of environmental tastes to remade levels.

But Hang Em High wouldn't work with the new weapons, and even Bungie said that.

(BTW we all know Damnnation is the best level ever.....)

Whatever plum said Chiron should return, should feel ashamed of themselves.

Words can't describe how awful that level was.

True. This is becuase the rocket launchers are up high on the cliffs making it easy to lock onto vehicles. This can easily be solved by moving the rocket launchers to the middle of the map, and replacing them with the brute shot.

Nobody gives a -blam!- about the 'stroy' - it's a multiplayer level for -blam!-s sake. Hang em High was enormous fun to play on and that is what matters.

Random little stubs? Haha... you don't know what they are do you. Hang em High actually DOES have a story... it's just a hidden one. And it's a better one than Headlong. If you don't know what it is, that's your problem.

Like I say though, it doesn't matter. Multiplayer maps are not made from a story.

Lol.

Coming from someone who says 'halo does not need to change' in your sig? Sorry kid, it's going to be different in Halo 3. Think how different 1 and 2 were. Well, it's happening again. If it ain't broke don't fix it? Halo 1 wasn't broke, and they fixed the -blam!- out of that.

But anyway, most of the H1 levels were pointless. I mean, they had no feel. Just, like empty plain metal boxes. Halo, gave more of environmental tastes to remade levels.
Once again, they are not 'pointless' - the point is they are great for multiplayer action. Nobody gives a -blam!- about a meaningless backstory. It is a secondary concern at best.

But Hang Em High wouldn't work with the new weapons, and even Bungie said that.

By 'new' weapons, you mean Halo 2's weapons. Which are now 'old' weapons. There is every chance it will be perfect with Halo 3's weapons.

It wouldn't fit in to the gameplay mechanics of Halo 2, and it certainly wouldn't fit in to the gameplay mechanics of Halo 3.

What the hell are you talking about? Please don't talk out of your arse. Firstly you have no idea about the gameplay mechanics of Halo 2. Secondly it is probable that Halo 3's gameplay will be as different to 2's as 2's was to 1's. I certainly hope so anyway.
