I'm not raging because I came to terms with the fact that Bioware just doesn't want Mass Effect 3 to fit in with the rest of the series. I learned this when the Extended Cut came out and removed the consequences of Shepard's final decision, thereby taking out the only redeeming thing about the final 10 minutes of the trilogy. Complaining more won't make it any less repulsive.
You do know the extended cut did show consequences of Shepard's final decision and they made it so you can refuse to do any of the options?
I think I worded it wrong.
This is gonna be spoilery, so if any of you actually want to experience Space Magic for yourself, sail your eyes north. In the original Space Magic, it's heavily implied that the mass relays are destroyed. We saw in Arrival that when a relay explodes, it takes out the star system it's in. By choosing to go through with it, you decided that ending the Reapers' cycle was worth sacrificing everyone in the galaxy, everybody you formed a bond with over the trilogy, every single place you visited in your journey, the very possibility of galactic civilization ever returning to the way it was. You ended it all so that the next group of species wouldn't have the Reaper threat looming on the horizon. That gave an enormous weight to your decision. In Space Magic 2, the relays and everyone in them are just fine. That big consequence that made your decision truly matter just evaporates because Bioware thought we wanted a happier ending instead of a better ending. Some people might have, but there's no way in hell that taking that away improved anything about it in my opinion. The refusal ending felt tacked on and rushed as a big middle-finger to the people who disagreed with Space Magic. It could have been truly great if it showed all your friends and allies being overcome and defeated because you were too stubborn to take the only opportunity to save the galaxy. Instead, it just fades away and we have the same scene from the original, only this time implying that Liara's black box gave the next cycle the time ours didn't. Completely detached from the emotion it could have had.
