That's it, we're officially in this...

It is highly likely that this is due to Syria using the SCUD missiles the other day.

Although Scud missiles could be fitted with chemical warheads, mostly it's just a rocket engine and concrete in missile form, that's really the only threat if it's a direct hit.
I don't think Syria gonna strike Turkey any time soon though.
Just my 2 cents.

It's still unconfirmed if the earlier strike was chemical, there's been no word, as for attacking Turkey, they don't want to take that chance...better to be on guard and have nothing happen than to get knocked off your ass because you ignored it. My 2 cents.

Hussein used WMDs against his own people. Syria is a much different dynamic and will by no means be the same as Iraq. It takes a mere glance at the situation to see the many differences.

America: Billions (or was it trillions?) of dollars in debt and still feels the need to waste resources trying to police the world!

It's called allies and we are protecting them much like you would protect your best friend if he or she were be to be attacked by a thug in the streets.

My feelings are that IF America really got involved, the plan would be similar to the first Gulf War, airstrike the beejesus out of them until they play nice. I don't think Obama/the senate is dumb enough to commit actual ground forces to Syria while we are in the middle of pulling out of Afghanistan. Plus from what I've heard, the government the rebels are trying to install wouldn't necessarily be any less oppressive, it would just be a democratically elected kind of oppression. Don't quote me on this I don't really keep up on what's going on over there but I remember reading something about the rebels just trying to install a democratic government with laws still centered heavily around Shariah Law (Islamic Law) and that wouldn't be much better than Assad in terms of personal freedoms for the people.

Our leadership wants the rebels to do all the legwork, like Libya we would take out hard targets while everything else is left to the locals.

Tell that to the thousands of Kurds he gassed in the '80s.

I'm sure that never happened.
