that's what i mean it's like completely dark and the master chief either has like night vision or maybe all you have is a small red lazer and the only way you can find the covenient is by listening... (sorry if i spelled covenient wrong; you know what i mean)

If its that dark and you can't see the enemy at all... than you don't know what the lazer pointer is pointing at -_-'.
Second, if there where grenade smoke present or an explosion, the lazer (normaly invisible, mind you) would be seen and someone could run away, and theres always a chance of someone saying to a teammate "Hey dude... theres a red dot on your forehead".

Nextly, the lazer pointer has light to it, not just where its pointing, but where the light is coming from, so sniper = easier to spot.

But I would preffer to have the dissadvantages to show people that hiding with a strong weapon and instantly killing someone without ever getting hurt is stupid, and that these people are wusses who say they have skill when they can't do jack in a medium to close range battle.

Imagine this. Master Chief enters within the great big forerunner facility (or somewhere else) inside the trailer. He starts tearing up covenant left and right, but the fact is that the flood has complete domination over the facility. Suddenly, there is a massive power outage, and you can see (maybe in a cinematic) that the entire facility is plunged into darkness. Cortana's voice appears over the comm: "Master Chief, it looks like you will get a chance to use the latest addiction to your armor." You get a message that says *press the O to activate night-vision* and you press it. Suddenly, you see the whole area in ultraviolet/green/red/yellow/another colour. As you progress through the rooms, the flood is displayed as heat marks (like heat vision) in red while the covenant is displayed in heat marks in another colour.

I don't know, its just an idea.

Err, sorry but hasent anyone noticed that THE MASTER CHIEF ALREADY HAS A FRIGGEN FLASH LIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, bungie wouldnt use in a laser reticle, if anything, they would put the night vision scope back in.

How about this too: realistic sniping. You have to press a button to steady your aium, maybe even some gravity effect- it would help sort out the real, harcore snipers and the cheap wannabees.

The idea of a laser is really ghey, who would want to have a laser when you already have a reticle.

IDIOT!!! I'ts too dark to see ANYTHING you can't even see you reticle so you flip on the heat vision then you can see things walking around...

Idiot. You can always see your reticle,no matter how dark it is. Go play High Charity and see for yourself.

There is no reason for a laser, you have a reticle with a headshot indicator already.

I still would rather burst into flames after seven consecutive assasniations. I just don't see a reason for a laser sight other than..."Look at those awesome laser effects!" or its use in Machinmas...Other than that, I don't really think it is imparitive. Like the Laser sight on the shotgun in Hitman...Pointless.

I wish halo 3 has a level thats like Truth and Reconciliation from halo ce. You actually had to use night vision and plus u start off with a sniper. i guess night vision would be cool, i remember using it in halo ce on sidewinder because my friend would always get the camo.

I think the laser would be good because although there is a recticle its not part of the game world if you know what I mean like a lazer would be seen by everybody, say that would be good in multiplayer to see a lazer beam on your mates chest chest so you at least to move a lil bit to give you more of a chance.

wow its fun reading all your arguments.
Who ever is daft enough to put that reticle is the same as heat vision or laser is stupid because laser is light and yuo cn see with it and a reticle does NOT produce light so the dude he made this topic is dead on right and i think it would be ace

how about adding a laser pointer to the sniper rifle and the BR (if it's going to be in halo 3) just in case we have to play in a dark scene or something like that?

No we already have a flashlight

An army of sheep led by a lion would defeat an army of lions led by a sheep.

Hey, if anything, at least it would look cool! I don't think we need laser beams, though.. But you would think they would have some way of perfecting aim through the use of lasers and calculating wind current. Not visible beams, of course.

I wish I could mark targets when I have the sniper rifle. So my team knows who is priority kill #1. Each game is like a chess match, except the pieces are always changing - what weapon, bomb, flag, mad skills, each player carries. One minute an opponent is the pawn, and next thing you know, they become the most powerful piece of weaponry on the map. It would be nice to mark those targets with a visual icon. Assuming you're alive, and have them in your sights.

Actually, that wouldn't work very well in most situations - Too many maps where you wouldn't be able to prioritize, due to lack of knowledge and vision - It would work better in open maps like blood gulch aka coag, but would suck in most others, and lead to confusion.

"Great success!" -Borat
Oly Oly Oxen Free... -Spartan II Code Phrase

Like someone said, Halo isn't about the cool gadgets, it's about the basic guns, vehicles, enemies, allies and environments. A laser would be useless because:

- Reticule is already there that turns red when pointed at enemies, green for allies
- MC has a flashlight that should still be infinite in the dark
- If Bungie brings back night vision

That was just to sum it up, I don't think there should be anymore argument about this, but I'm not a Moderator so go ahead if you want to. :)

"Thoughts are the shadows of feelings; always darker, emptier, and simpler."

Lasers would work if the reticule was a dot and no auto-aim.

First of all, i disagree with ur signature...
Posted by: Twelve Large
An army of sheep led by a lion would defeat an army of lions led by a sheep

No matter now tacticle the sheeps are, they can never defeat lions.
first of all, sheeps cannot kill a lion because, well, they are herbivores. and no matter how badly the lions are led they can still kill a sheep with one bite/slash. so yeah, u r wrong.

and for the sake of arguing, it wouldnt really matter for a sinper to have laser. I mean if u r trying to put halo in the future setting, things would be waay different. First of all, i won't be suprised if shotguns fired as fast as smg, i mean we already have semi-auto shotguns now days. and the grenade, i think i would've evolved by then, not just killing things with shrapnel. As for the rocket launcher, it would definately pack more punch and more powerful, probably same as a missle today. Snipers would totally evolve, maybe something changes with the bullet that should be one-shot ko to ANYTHING and can actually track it through heat signature (kinda like the rocket now except waay more advance). and what happened to chemical warfare? There are soo many other things for example, the pelican. I mean right now in Halo it have 0 firepower, u think that even troops today would use that to transport ppl?? THe vehicles like tank would be waay fast, like a car, and a warthog would have more armour. So actually, humans shuold be more evolved than covenant should things be realistic.

But that's it, Halo isn't realistic, it's about skills and fun. I mean how fun would it to blow up a whole covenant ship just by using 2 rocket? How fun would it to be able to kill any oppoent just using the sniper? how fun would it if u can slash through enemies with shotgun bullets without any resistence? (well, fun for a little while, but really no challenge, and like anything, would be boring after a VERY SHORT while). but if that actually happened, then there would be no halo plot line: if covenant tried anything they would all die.

So, to ur question of laser or not? try not to look at it as how realistic it is, but look at it from a stragetic point of view: first of all, it would definately add more element to the game, i mean if u see ur self marked as a target that would give u a chance to do something; but it also promotes the skills of the sniper where they kill u before u notice anything. So give and take, not neccssary and it would change the game a lot even if u don't know it right now. And btw for ppl who say u can use the flashlight, that just gives away where u r to ever enmy in the area, as opposed to using just a tiny laser and only the person u r targetting will know (if he's actually looking ur way).

I like to argue and make my point of view :D

(ignore all spelling and grammer mistakes, i only got 85% in english)
