Subject: Why does everyone think the mouse and keyboard controls are so....

Complicated? I mean yeah it takes a bit get used to it but after that it's honestly not that hard.

I like it. Takes a little to get the hang of it but after that it's all good.

Because, I guess, PCs were designed for typing and not gaming.

I do prefer a mouse over the right analog stick any day.

I really don't understand why I have a signature.

They do?

I'm a college dropout.

There's a bunch of keys around the buttons I want to press. If I get caught off guard in a FPS or something I don't want to accidently hit the wrong key. I really only like PC's for MMO's or RTS.

Why do people have to get used to M&K? It's like the alphabet.

ITT: Console players that are not capable of playing on a PC.

I know a lot of people who say " I hate pc gaming because the mouse and keyboard is like too complicated." I play all sorts of games on my pc from RPGS to shooters and honestly i prefer the mouse and keyboard over the controller in most cases.

no its legit, i used coordinates, set weapon timers the works.

I don't think they're complicated, I just don't like playing games with it.

I make a living of selling my body, and I don't mean sex.

I got so proficient on keyboard use from playing Runescape.

Complicated would be the wrong word, but they aren't well designed for most games. Companies have spent decades trying to bring better ergonomics and practicality to the M&K design, and they still can't touch the comfort or simplicity of a controller. That being said, there are some games where you really need the keyboard, and a thumbstick can't touch the precision of a mouse.

It really is all about preference.

because you have to memorize what every single key does, and since pc games have such crappy manuals you don't know where all the hotkeys are.
plus games that are exclusive to mouse controls for movement annoy me like diablo, i have both the console version and the pc version of diablo and i can say the console version's controls seem more natural, when i swing my sword i'd rather mash the x button than click on the guy over and over again and then he moves so i accidentally click somewhere else, it's annoying.

keyboard is good for rts games only, for everything else, use a controller. and mouse controls are terrible especially if your mouse gets stuck half the time like mine does. i think for rts games they should make an rts keyboard with keys designed specifically for rts games so you can understand the controls easier.

your joking right, runescape is all mouse controlled. mouse control is the worst because the mouse is unreliable.

I didn't know anybody thought that keyboard controls were complicated. I console gamed my whole life, played wow for a week and was using the keyboard commands like a boss.

Default setting for KB/M happen to be weird on a lot on the shooters I've played. It can be a pain in the ass to set up a really comfortable remap.

Default RTS controls are usually pretty good. My only complaint is the "left click select, right click order" scheme I've seen in a few games. It's "left click select and order" so sayeth Command and Conquer.

This. I don't want to jump when I need to shoot or vice-versa.

Without The Flood, I wouldn't know what an opinion is.

The only thing mouse and keyboard can't do is fighting games. Other than that I prefer mouse and keyboard for everything.

So remap your controls? I can't think of too many PC games that don't let you do that.

The mouse is really what makes gaming on a pc great. Controlling movement with wasd is another thing though; I can't say I particularly care for it.

NON FACET NOBIS CALCITRARE VESTRUM PERNǢUM

I understand how Mouse&Keyboard would be partially beneficial when it comes to FPS, but I still prefer analog sticks.

Oh really?

Well shoot, I guess that me playing TF2, Spore, and SWTOR with a keyboard doesn't count when I migrated from the conosle TF2 to the PC version, and tried out other stuff. Guess I'm a mutant or something.

Or anything that can make benefit of analog controls.

That's where a lot of gaming keyboards come into play. There are some great boards on the market/in development where you can lock down unwanted keys while gaming with the press of a button. Important keys like ADWS and LShift can be raised to make them easier to press/more difficult to miss, etc.

Then it's just down to muscle memory. A keyboard and mouse will always be able to out-play a controller in the right hands.
