Guys. They are still pulling children's bodies from that school. Would you kindly shut the -blam!- up about the gun argument?

Go start another thread if you want, but this isn't the time or place.
Charlie, gun control is a topic that affects how many bodies will be pulled from the school. School shootings keep happening, but despite all the debates that get brought up it seems that only Utah has learned anything from them so far.

The gunman, who is dead, was a 20-year-old from Connecticut,

I saw this and was confused, because they originally said he was a parent of a student.

Did the kid knock someone up at 12 or something?

I know his kid was in kidergarten so I guess he was 14 or 15 when he had him. There is also a whole Kidergarten class unaccounted for, Im betting it was his childs class.

There is, I'm sure, will be, rather, a day for discussion of the usual Washington policy debates but I don't think today is that day."

Take notes kids.

And just 3 days ago there was another shooting. The longer people wait the more people die. But I digress, seeing as how it's a pointless endeavor.

Wait wait wait. CNN is reporting over 100 rounds fired. They found two 9mm handguns.

This makes no sense. How does a guy have THAT much ammo, and fire that many rounds? I mean did NO ONE try to stop him? Was no one able to? I just...holy -blam!-.

100 -blam!- rounds...

This isn't the time or place. Tomorrow maybe. Or even on another thread. There are still dead children in that school. We shouldn't be using this as an opportunity to dredge up this tired argument that does nothing but start a flamewar.

People generally don't expect somebody to walk into an elementary school with 100 rounds. It's a possibility - just as anything is - but that fear is generally avoided by the public, which is both a good and bad thing.

What'd Utah do?
Utah allows concealed carry of handguns on college campuses.

That wouldn't help in this instance, but it's a step towards ending these ridiculous gun free zones.

You expect a bunch of little kids to do anything about it?

And really, anyone else teaching there isn't going to run towards the gunfire. They have to worry about themselves and the kids they were in charge of first and foremost.

9mm magazines and ammunition is quite light.

These kids are never going to want to go to school again. I mean, their lives are just ruined. I can't even imagine. At that age, they don't even comprehend death, yet alone the death of children their age, and especially not in such fashion.

Ugh...

If someone goes bat-blam!- insane. That isnt going to be a deterrent to them since there gonna be dead anyway. He will still kill some people before he gets taken down.

I'm just pissed that the teachers couldn't do more. Was there really nothing they could do? I'm not blaming them; I'm simply in awe how defenseless they were.

I like to play Reach for fun. I hate MLG, campers, armor lock, and team killers because they ruin that fun. Deal with it.

Why did you post this OP? It's just going to create a pointless flame war about how guns should or shouldn't be outlawed. It's still tragic and I hope these murderers pay.

We can be real and say no one would ever follow those directions anyway. I really don't know why such procedures are taught, because they aren't going to be followed - same with fire drills, evacuation orders on a ship, or anything else.

First thing I'm doing is running the other way.

You can't live in fear because anytime anywhere you could die anyway. Live each day like it's your last, but don't live carelessly and protect yourself.

That's the only way. They will definitely be traumatized for many years and some will never recover, but that should not stop them from getting the education they deserve.

It is our job as adults to prevent these things from happening and lessen the effects when they do. I could see this tragedy leading to nationwide reform on safety precautions in public schools similar to the airplane safety over a decade ago.

I almost didn't make this because I knew this would happen. But I felt I should inform people anyways.

On another note all you people that dislike cops but are saddened by this think about what those officers are going through right now. Having ro go through that school searching for bodies, seeing children maybe the same age as their own brutally gunned down in their school. Imagine how that feels, and then say that it wouldn't change you. You ever wonder why cops are mean? This is why. We read about this stuff and never see the worst of it, they do. They have to live with seeing this kind of death and senseless death. There are things cops know that you don't want to know and can't begin to imagine. Try seeing that regularly throughout a year and not being changed by it.

This would be a good time to point out that the US Government seriously did consider nuking the moon during the Cold War as a show of force. Project A119.

"A large explosion on the Terminator line would put the sun behind the mushroom cloud, making the explosion visible with the naked eye from Earth."

Then the US decided they'd just send in Neil Armstrong to land on it. Neil Armstrong - the one man on the earth that was considered a suitable replacement for a nuclear missile.

This is unbelievable. Why would someone, especially an adult, open fire at an elementary school? I can't even imagine how the victims' families feel right now.
