The worst part is, the kids who died probably have been counting down to Christmas waiting to open their gifts and now the parents have to give away their dead child's gift.

This just hits me.

I know. For Christmas they have to bury their child. I can't imagine how that feels. After seeing how my Dad reacted to my brothers death last year... I don't even want to think about it.

Last year a freshmen girl was stabbed, raped, and set on fire

... In that order?

I'm not shocked that this has happened. Instead, I'm just really mad. School shootings have been occurring way too often nowadays, but nothing has been done to prevent them. Has anyone ever thought that metal detectors and security personnel would help prevent such things?!

Security personnel at schools, with guns no doubt.

What a great idea, not.

It amazes me that people still defend these ridiculous gun laws.

They don't need to carry guns since there are other ways to take down a criminal. For example, tasers and pepper spray are non-lethal weapons.

No matter how much security they put in one they, this is bound to happen again in some other state years from now.

Just heard something about an 18 year old in bartlesville, ok trying to get someone to help him get people into the high school auditorium and lock the doors behind him so he could shoot everyone today. Apparently he was arrested but what the -blam!-?

Can anyone confirm this?

This was true. Dude's name was Sammy Chavez.

Pepper spray isn't very effective and I've seen people shrug off tasers, especially when they're high. If you want a non lethal approach use rubber tipped cartridges and aim for the soft spots.

This may be where enough is enough. The perverted fetish with guns has to end. The intellectually deficient members of society, some on this forum, who hear "people kill people" and like to repeat this over and over are going to look insensitive to this.

It's a situation so out of control now. You have mentally ill individuals able to get their hands on guns and slaughter masses of people too easily.

So there was nothing that could be done to have prevented this. It was that easy for him to acquire them
