How one can blame video games, Facebook and other social media things for something specific not related to them.

But not actually blame the thing that was used to kill the people is beyond me.
Shame on the cowards who defend guns and blame other unrelated things.

Criminals will always be able to get guns, if normal people can't have a gun then i'm becoming a murderer and a robber because it will be easiest job on earth.
It is also made easy to get guns if anyone can have them. And not to mention that improper use of guns by civilians is rife, you cant expect civilians to be able to shoot other people. In Australia, criminals do manage to aquire weapons, but its difficult and they arent very poweful

Thanks for all the entertainment today flood! Not only in this thread, but all the other heavily opinionated ones regarding this topic as well.

Entertainment?

You think this is a -blam!- game?

That's another thing. I think the mods need to seriously comb through this thread and perma-ban these people. The are no words that describe how cold some of these people are. One may argue they're just trolling...but no. That is not trolling. Not by a long shot.

You act like they still IP ban people.
Just because my opinion and statement doesn't fit your morality, doesn't mean it's wrong. Morality is subjective, I found today entertaining, so deal with it.

You find the deaths of children entertaining?

  • 12.14.2012 5:19 PM PDT

I don't see you doing anything to help our country.
Except sitting at home, naked, eating twinkies, rubbing your hands together going "Heh. Target Destroyed. Mission Accomplished." Oh wait. that's not helping.

Morality isn't subjective. You're a sick son of a -blam!-. I didn't know those kids, I never would have. They still didn't deserve to die. Stop bringing up crap about 3rd world countries and all that, yes children die there, but I would like to think that at least in a first world country such as the United States kids can be safe in their damn school.

You are everything that is wrong with our society. You aren't cool and you aren't funny. If making fun of dead kids is the biggest entertainment you get in life you really must be dead inside. Oh and the mods can and will IP ban you if it is deemed necessary.

I had a very similar thing, only I threw a 14 story building out of a pool and hit a kid on a paper aeroplane.

That's because Austrailia is basically an island. It's not that hard to control guns when the only way criminals can get there is by the heavily guarded airports or ship ports. If you live in America, it's easy to get a gun if you are bold enough to go across the border and make a deal with the cartels.

Nope.
I just found people's reactions flood wise, what news reporters were saying, and how much overreacting took place today entertaining. So the act of what happen itself wasn't entertaining to me, it was the other things that I listed that amused me.

So like, with all these mass murders, is anyone going to do anything about public security, or are we just going to post it on the media for a week or two and move on?
I don't know about you, but I'll certainly be writing to my representatives after the dust settles. I'm going to be the change I want to see. Most people will forget about it and move on.

I think this will be looked at. This school was just utterly defenseless. They had no chance and honestly, they're lucky it was just one guy with handguns. It could've been so much worse...

They need to prepare these schools. I'm not talking a complete and costly overhaul, but outfitting schools with stronger doors that bolt lock is a start. My school did that; all the entrances were locked during the day and the only way in was the main entrance in which you needed to pass through two sets of doors. In between, was a secretary who'd open the second set of doors. I think giving the teachers weapons is a bad idea since that means kids can get them and teachers aren't immune to doing bad things either. More weapons isn't the answer.

Disclaimer: The latter is a lie.

This is my concern.

I don't know man. On one side, you're right. On the other, this is totally different here. We've seen shooting and have become desensitized almost to them. "Another shooting...what a surprise...."

But this was targeted at children and this has not happened before. At all. I don't know how to say it, but it's different. It's a whole new level of wrong, and I think it might really wake people up.

Horrible, schools are meant to be the safest places for children.

What can a person do? If anything happens, like a bill to sign or something that I can support, I'll do it. Just tell me when and where.

However, I can't start anything. I just don't have the means or resources. But damn it, I'll support anything that will allow a child to be safer in school and that will allow a parent to breath easier during the day.

You're not as powerless as you think. Write your representatives and participate in government. Work with charities and non-profits to promote change. Don't have any in your area? Start something. People will be there to help.

I was born in Danbury Hospital. The thought that children might lose their lives in the same place I was given mine is a strange and very unsettling one.

Check out The Game Lounge

While I agree that it is a terrible thing that happened, and my heart goes out to the victims' families, I think it is being a bit overhyped.

The media is calling it a national tragedy, a total of 28 dead (including the shooter and his mother)and it is suddenly a tragedy. Yes, a 22 of whom were children, but it still doesn't make it a tragedy.

And then Obama addresses the situation, gets a little teary and the media calls it "breaking down". First of all, he kept talking, after a few pauses, but he kept talking. He RUBBED HIS EYES a few times and the media calls it "bursting into tears"

I hate the media, I really do, they overhype everything they get their hands on. Yeah, its a very bad thing that happened, its terrible. But it is NOT a tragedy, I am sorry.

Signatures are for little kids.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the ones left behind.

But it's not shocking at all. People who still get shocked about mass shootings in America are probaby people who would be shocked that something got broken after 100 elephants were forced into a fine china shop.

The rest of the world can see it coming a mile away.

While the media does over exaggerate at times, this is without a doubt, a tragedy. To say otherwise is wrong. It's not even subjective. And this is by no means overhyped. At all. There hasn't been a shooting like this that I can remember. Ever.
