If they're not going to have stricter gun laws, only give civilians only very weak rifles/pistols. Nobody needs a bushmaster that is akin to an M16. Nobody needs that at all. I wish there was a weapon that could just freeze a human being, like some sort of electric paralyzing shock. Then that way you could defend yourself without killing.

You do know that compared to most hunting rifles, the round that the M-16 fires is relatively low power?

It fires a .223 caliber bullet, which is just slightly larger than a .22 long rifle.

Most hunting rifles are chambered in larger rounds that are far more devastating to flesh than what an M-16 can fire.

Even the AR-10 which is chambered in 7.62x51mm or .308 is bare minumum for Elk hunting.

Most people prefer to take a rifle chambered in 30-06, 7mm Rem Mag, 7.62x54r, or 8mm Mauser when hunting. All of these are exponentially more powerful than the round that M-16s/AR-15s fire.

Well, from what I've heard the Bushmaster wasn't used, he was going to try and use it. Still, who needs a Sig Sauer, and a Glock.

Every time there's a tragedy, people just leap at the chance to give their freedoms away. Makes me sad.
But if you live somewhere where you only have 2 choices for who forms government (perhaps neither of them very trustworthy), how much freedom do you REALLY have?

Sorry, I'll rant about that another day.

You don't have to tell me. I voted for Gary Johnson.

You mean two widely available pistols in a widely available caliber that has been used since 1901?

A lot of people dig Sig and Glock for their reliability.

Sigs come in anything from 9mm to 10mm to 40 S&W and I believe .45 ACP.

Glock is the same, 9mm, 10mm, 40 S&W, and .45.

Both have .22lr conversion kits.

It's not the gun's fault, it's the fault of the kid shooting it. This guy was a kid, pure and simple. A 20 year old kid hell bent on ending it all and getting his name recognized. That is exactly what happened.

Don't blame the gun, blame that gunned down all those children.

Also, we will use the Colt M-16 and M-4 for a long time. Why? Because they work. Bushmaster has been trying for years to have us adopt one of their rifles, but so far, they have failed. Why change what isn't broke?

Not at all. We do not judge!... Except for the Yankees, we'll give them a hard time about their accents for a bit xD.

Actually, our economy never really got that bad at all. In fact our area is doing quite well. Our oil and gas industry greatly minimized the recession's impact on most of Texas.

I broke one of the cords for my X11s because I couldn't get past the final American course in Doritos Crash Course.

How come people can enjoy using guns for sport and hunting but still have a low gun crime rate in most of Europe, yet the US have mass shootings of innocent people just about every year? I have no problems with guns, its a fun sport - but the US seriously need to sort out their laws regarding gun control.

You don't need a gun, no one does.

Says you. I need a gun if I want to put enough deer in my freezer to last a while. Same goes for hogs.

You and everyone else who has a gun just want them, you and them don't need a gun to live.
In fact, I do. Most of my food I get I kill with my .270 or .22, and a few with my shotgun. So yes, a gun is good for my survival.

Just because a bunch of old guys wrote on a piece of paper "the right to bare arms" doesn't mean that that "right" should still stand.

Those 'old guys' build the foundation upon which the USA stands. The Supreme Court disagrees with you too, bro.

Times have changed that "right" doesn't need to and shouldn't apply today.

Funny ,the Supreme Court ruled that it does.

There are a lot of people who use that outdated and backwards quote to own guns, even when they shouldn't ever be allowed to own a gun.

Who are you to say who should and shouldn't own a weapon? The current system in place for the purchase and sale of weapons isn't perfect, but it's not abhorrent either. Nothing we do is ever perfect, and there are always bound to be a few idiots bent on violence, and there's no law that';s going to stop them from doing evil. You should start looking at the human part of the violence equation; Alleviate that, and you're good. Don't keep blaming a forged piece of plastic and steel for the evils of man.

No one on Earth needs a gun, you can hunt deer or whatever with a bow and arrow.

When it comes to the "Right to bare arms", that is a very much outdated part of that document.

And the supreme court is just a bunch of old people who grew up in a very different world compared to today.

Their views on things don't represent the world today.

Of course people will always do evil things, the human race is very much flawed and has been from the start.

All a person needs in life is food, drink, and shelter.

Everything else is a want or desire.

Wow that's retarded. Yes, technically we don't need anything. What a stupid thing to say.

I was a finalist :P

Just heard on Channel 9 news that the guns were legally registered to the mother. Not too sure how it works in America, but should background checks not only happen to the person getting registered, but all members living in the household?

Well -blam!-. The sad part is, I'd bet most of those are with firearms obtained legally.
