Prayers..ha

Praying has never helped anyone.

Stfu. Its cool that you don't believe in that, but don't be a -blam!- about it.

How immature can you possibly be?

Now the teachers will have to carry guns

A teacher with a gun would have probably averted the crisis

No.

What if one day, a teacher somewhere in America loses it and turns his gun on his pupils?

Why do people think the solution to gun crime is more guns? It'd be like saying the solution to obesity is big macs.

If someone anywhere loses it, anything can become a weapon. A piece of string, a desk chair, one of the many sharp objects most schools have in some capacity.

The solution to gun crime is neither more guns nor less guns. It's smarter restrictions and precautions, and that includes gun-detection, security, evacuation routes, etc. An able-minded faculty member with a weapon could have prevented this from getting as bad as it did.

Just because something is designed to kill doesn't mean it is bad. People kill people, but there are 2 sides to the coin and the other side is defense.

I know several teachers and students who carry for this very reason. Some schools have at least 1 or 2 police officers in the building at all times. Any combination of these could have prevented this from escalating.

Guns will never be the problem. The problem is who can access these guns.

Schools need more security. Bottom line.
But that costs money, and nobody is willing to spend more money on education.

The safest solution is armed guards at schools with proper training. Jobs for citizens and safety for citizens.

Great idea. Armed Guards. With proper training. That'll totally prevent one of them going crazy and shooting the school up.

Listen to what you're saying to yourselves. A man with a gun protecting 4 year old boys and girls. Something wrong maybe? America, why do you think this doesn't happen in other countries? You get one major shooting a month nowadays. Your solution to gun crime is more guns. Can't you see the flaw?

Whether or not teachers could carry guns on campus wouldn't affect this at all. If someone snaps and decides to massacre children, they're going to bring a gun to school with them whether it's legal or not.

Perhaps this will change things. I don't recall a shooting like this in recent years, where this many children were killed. Things are going to change because of what happened today.

Listen to what you're saying? Because people have the capacity to commit atrocities means that every person will commit atrocities? Quite the slippery slope you have there.

My old high school has two armed guards. A neighboring high school has no guards at all. Oddly enough, some nutty student walked in with two hand guns. Thankfully he forgot the magazines and teachers apprehended him.

Besides, if one guard goes nuts, there's another guard to act on the situation.

I know and that is what is so sad about it. The gun culture. If Obama came out today and said he wants gun control he was piss a lot of people off. So what do you. As a supporter of the right to bear arms think you should do to stop these shootings happening again?
Getting people good educations would help immensely. Bad education leads to poverty and poverty leads to crime in general, both petty and violent.*

*This isn't true in all cases but it is in most.
Im pretty sure it isn't a criminal that does this. Just someone that is insane

<b> The difference is, a piece of string or a desk chair can't kill someone from 40 feet away, can't kill multiple targets and can easily be stopped by an adult. </b>

Oh, and also:

<b> What's to stop an 'able-minded faculty member' losing it like this shooter did? </b>

Because, somehow, we need to prevent this from happening again. This is truly unacceptable. Killing innocent children is the highest offense, in my book.

If you want to work on the amount of gun crime in the US, you need to divert police resources away from busting Jimmy the marijuana dealer or Leslie the street hooker and run more sting operations on the streets targeting those who sell firearms.

Police work is like everything else - opportunity cost. There are far better things for police to be doing than busting someone for going 62mph in a 55mph zone, selling an ounce of weed, or selling their body to some lonely old man.

If somebody wants to go to a school and kill a bunch of kids, there are alternatives to guns such as knives, crossbows, poison gas, etc.

There is no perfect counter to any scenario, but having at least a few select individuals be tasked with security would be better than leaving it open.

It's always bothered me how there is no security at places like schools or libraries or movie theaters or whatever. It's one thing to avoid living in fear, but it's another to leave yourself vulnerable.

A good rule of thumb is to always expect the worse. The first people to die are the careless, and all these tragedies in the last dozen years are just showing how careless humans are.
