Hi, I'm from Canada.

We don't seem to have these problems for some reason.
Yep!

So instead of trying to put more regulations on guns, why don't we work on fixing the people using them? Get annual background checks on people, make sure the people who owns guns should own guns. Nothings going to work if we just keep throwing more red tape on guns and less help on these depraved gun owners.

So from the people who are pro gun rights. There response is to blame there person. Blaming isn't going to do anything if you don't actually change something to prevent this happening again. Either that or you concede that this will always happen and you are powerless to stop it.

What we need is better mental health screening prior to purchase of said firearms. Sane people don't use a tool like a gun in such a way.

I think we need some form of mental screening for every citizen of the US.

How 'bout no? It's a basic Constitutional right for Americans to have guns. I'm not going to bother going into details since I don't feel like being banned for discussion of Politics.

RIP Logan ~B.B.

We all know we need more access to guns to keep ourselves safe from all the access to guns we have.

I think we can all agree that something needs to be changed. The current status and laws are not good enough and this will keep happening. Action needs to be taken ASAP
I agree.

We need to abolish "gun free zones" and allow concealed carry on school grounds, even if at the very least it's only permanent faculty members.

Studies show that men think about sex every 7 seconds. I do my best to eat hotdogs in under 6, just so things don't get weird.

Something needs to be done, you are correct. Its gotta be cultural. I'm watching CNN, and Dr Drew just hit the nail on the head. The problem isn't guns, its us. All of us.

Think about it, what kind of a society creates people that do this regularly? How many school shootings is this now?

Yes, removing guns would lower body counts in these incidents. But they won't reduce the number of incidents. We would have to then ban knives, eventually tape oven mitts to everyone's hands to keep us from harming one another.

We need to look to how to reduce the number of incidents that happen.

so you want a source?

try this

true story

may i point out the following:

Connecticut already has an AWB in effect.

Primary Schools are "gun-free(open season on victims) zones Nationwide.

so not only do we not know what happened fully, criminals gonna criminal.

also the media calls anything "tactical" looking a bulletproof vest regardless of if it's actually kevlar or even a plate carrier.
for example james homes had a blackhawk brand MOLLE airsoft vest that isn't actually ballistic rated. "shooter had bulletproof vest and an AK-47[low quality AR-15])" was what the media said

committing a crime while using ballistic armor is a felony everywhere in the US.

Yeah, but most peoples definition of "change" is ban guns all together.

A competitive players main goal is to win.
A casuals main goal is to have fun regardless of whether that results in a win or loss.
It has nothing to do with individual skill or knowledge, it has to do with the reason you play.

No law is going to prevent all the shooting incidents that are happening, but it'd probably prevent the cases where someone pissed off a wrong person.

If you don't have a firearm with you or in your house, it's a lot harder to pull out a gun and pull the trigger while acting in state of anger. I don't live in US so I don't know for sure, but I'd guess there are cases where someone just acted on impulse.

I never question the wisdom of the 1700s either. Just last week I burnt a witch. Got a little sick from the fumes so I ate a chunk of radium and stuck some leeches on my face.

They should test the mental state of the buyer, make sure he or she doesn't have a history of violence behind them. That they are all there and then you give them permission to purchase a weapon. Too many psychos are buying guns.

In some ways we could reduce it but never extinguish it. There are 350 million people in America of course there will be a few nut jobs.

I'm fed up arguing against guns being legal on this forum. I don't live in that country, and by now I couldn't care less what happens because, judging by this forum, most citizens want to keep guns simple and easy to get.

That is absolutely correct. It's also part of our Constitution for us to have guns.

Well, I don't know about the US, but the constitution can be changed here only by the people, and has been changed before.

"If you want to test a man's character, give him power" -- Abraham Lincoln

Something needs to be done about people. The problem is today people grow up in a society that presents life as cheap and makes the all the wrong things seem important.

It is absolutely SHAMEFUL that people would use this tragedy to advocate for a political policy.

Yeah, no.

Guns didn't cause this problem, we as a culture did.
