It certainly does bear asking why the number of "psychopath" incidents seems to be so much higher in the US than elsewhere.
Exactly.

Especially since things haven't always been this way.

Statistically speaking, it's the white people that are prone to doing -blam!- like this.
Because black people don't site in their own countries and kill each other either right??

This happened in America so I'm speaking of statistic in the United States.

Never say you're bored. Never say you're satisfied with the world. Never stop doubting or questioning things. Always wonder. Always think. But always take time to drop your guard, you don't have to be smart all the time.

Anyone like this is an evil bastard. It's just that the US is so big and I believe is lacking in morals and that's why it's hard to prevent stuff like this.

Your morality =/= Another guy's morality

Why do I feel like I am in a forum with people who have so much angst?
People in this forum all think there is no hope in humanity and we are getting even more uncaring then we used to be, even though in ancient times, people never cared about animal cruelty, people didn't treat their dogs as well they do now, everybody wanted to have a slave, and people enjoyed watching public executions and beheadings.

People today are way better then we used to be and we are getting better.

Everytime some nut goes out and does something stupid, people here say there is no hope for ALL of humanity, even though the majority of the public is good. We are getting better, the number of bleeding heart liberals is increasing. I don't understand why people think we are getting worse.

Sounds like someone just watched one of those pseudo inspirational videos on YouTube.

No offense to the videos, they are really cool and motivating. But someone is taking them a bit too literally.

There are far too many who have the morality of the other guy.

This is not a "pro-'Murica!" thread. I think the object of this thread is to tell people - average people - to stop being cold and actually do something to stop horrific events from happening. You can argue that it doesn't matter because the US is an evil and corrupt country (it's where you are surely going) but we need to treat the problem at home. I can't go tell a drone pilot to aim away from a building, but I can be kind to a stranger who may be having psychopathic/suicidal thoughts.

Stop the messiah complex bull-blam!-, please.

Human beings are no better or worse than they were 1000 years ago. All this crap about our "diseased culture" is the result of sensationalist idiots trying to feel superior to others.

Humans are violent pathetic creatures who have repeated the same mistakes for thousands of years. Nothing is going to change anytime soon - at least not in our lifetime.

Grow up!

Guarantee I am older than you, and you shouldn't deny the truth. Thousands of years of evolution and nothing has changed.

You should hear the stories I've heard by being on military bases. Civilians get killed at a constant in the middle east.

Yeah man the whole U.S. is a sick society.

I hate people who are so quick to judge the majority of the country. There are many people, in fact a majority, who are good people. Good people never make the news, only the sick bastards that do -blam!- like this do. You can't judge everybody like this.

There are many powers in the world, for good or for evil. Some are greater than I am. Against some I have not yet been measured. But my time is coming.

We are.

What other industrialized society creates the number of shooters as we do? None.

School shootings are so common that we can barely count them.

What's so wrong with us that this happens so often? We have to step up and start taking responsibility for our society, and the people it creates.

How often? Can you name the number of school shooting that has happened in the US?

Yes, violence happens everywhere, but no where near as often as here.

  • 12.14.2012 1:47 PM PDT

I am assuming direct control.

I'll go ahead and blame the school systems and childhood in general. There are plenty of people out there who would consider me almost a psychopath, and I'm nearly a textbook case of a sociopath. I'll tell you this, I was not born this way. I was made this way. My entire childhood I was laughed at, abused, told I was never going to be good enough. Now that I'm an adult, I don't feel anything anymore because it was the only way to escape from the suffering other people put out on me, because what, the fact that I was different? I was quieter? Now I've lost the ability to function normally.

Apart from other reasons, the biggest reason, in my opinion, is because of the terrible education system. Why don't they teach personal and social education like many other countries? It's proven to be effective.

The Wonderful LeSieg!

Attributing behavior to a nation of over three hundred million due to the extreme actions of one sickening individual is a dangerous example to be setting, OP. Try and consider the idea that millions of caring, loving and exceptional people are trying every day to make this world a better place because, despite all the hopelessness and cynicism, they most definitely are.

Events like today's are tragic, but extrapolating the feelings and attitudes by those who commit such tragedies to unfathomable degrees of generalizations is even more tragic. When you assume every one is at some point flawed to the point of preventing basic human decency and kindness, you do no favors for those who prove otherwise and those who need it most.
