Well you, like many aimless fools in this forum seem to not realize, that are some places in the US where civilians legitly need guns to protect themselves from threats such as gangs, murders, and muggers.

In areas like those, threats like that are more common than what you'd expect in your own town.

There's a neighborhood in Atlanta, Georgia (I think) that requires its residents to own a firearm, and they have one of the lowest crime rates in the city.
Really? Source? and what's the homicide rate as well.

Please source, It's interesting to see.

OK, easy:

Illegal or not, people are going to get guns. Drugs are illegal and yet more people die from overdoses than school shootings. No one is up in arms and looking for solutions to that, are they?

Legal or illegal the problem will persist.
I don't think I agree with this comparison.

Drug overdoses are harm done unto one's self. Shootings, like Sandy Hook, is harm done unto others. I would be putting a higher priority on people running around killing the innocent rather than drug addicts killing themselves.

Drug-related crimes are still an epidemic and cause more deaths than school shootings.

Nor does the average person. Sure, shootings and deaths would still happen, but you can not say that they will not decrease when guns are so limited and hard to get.

That's the thing, though, they wouldn't be limited. The number of guns will remain the same.

Hard to get? No. All you're going to do is create a black market. A very large and violently enforced one at that.

I own several guns and I want to start by saying that this is a horrible tragedy. However, blaming guns for killing people i like blaming pencils for spelling errors. Better screenings for people purchasing guns should be required, but people will always kill people. I heard a story how in china a man killed a bunch of people in a school in china with a hatchet.

Pretty much. As much as I wish we lived in a dream world without guns or violence, people are always going to gain access to guns regardless of what restrictions we place.

The way I see it, every person in America who owns a gun is at fault for these atrocities that are committed involving firearms and they should be fined every time something like this happens because they are funding the arms industry.

Nope, if everybody stopped buying guns then there wouldn't be as many for sale therefore less gun crime, that is amazing logic.

The problem is not guns. There were far less regulations years ago. My grandfather bought a 20 gauge shotgun when he was 8 for 20 dollars. There were hardly any of these shooting in the 1920s. There is some other variable that we are missing here.

You kindly explain why people use cigarette lighters if some people commit arson with them.

Because you can't reload, aim, and go on the move and continuously kill with a lighter.

You could cover a orphanage in gasoline then use the lighter to burn it to the ground killing more people.

In what world do you think that will happen? People like me have licenses to carry them in public. I am TRAINED on how and when to use it. It is a last resort defense for my family and myself should the need come. Cops will not ge t there in time, I would need it right then and now. It is something I will never give up.
