Does anyone know if episodes 52-103 are going to be released on DVD outside of Japan?

FUNimation still hasn't gotten around to releasing those episodes? Sounds like there might be licensing issues so there's no telling when they'll release those episodes.

Surely it doesn't take 2 years to resolve licensing issues?

You'd be very surprised then. Very. At worst, another distributor could get the rights, switch the voice cast, media format, and distribution.

In all likely hood, FUNimation is probably trying to get a better deal from the studio. Or the studio wants more. That can get ugly quick.

I see what you mean. Both parties might be disgreeing with what the other one is offering or wants.
I just hope it gets sorted out soon. I cannot stand to have a half-complete boxset =(

It is unlikely knowing Funimation. They often don't complete longer series unless they get enough money to justify doing so. Knowing the lack of popularity D. Gray-man had it is unlikely they will get the license for the rest of it. Just watch it in sub OP if you are that impatient.
