I can't imagine living in a country where guns aren't banned. It's proven extremely effective, so yes.

Switzerland would like a word with you.

Switzerland isn't full of psycopaths bro, so it works out for them.

'murica on the other hand...

If they are a psycho then they'll get another gun anyway...

In many states, licensed dealers are required to do background checks already. The problem is that there's a secondary market for guns where not all laws regarding firearm trade are obeyed.

I think the government should try to better regulate the gun market. Even then, gun laws aren't going to do much, if anything at all, to help prevent shootings like the one today.

NO, the problem is not with American gun laws. It's with American culture.

I don't understand where this whole 'If you ban guns, people will still commit atrocities regardless and you will be defenceless against criminals'. Ok. Fair enough. But if that's the case, why, in a country like Australia for example where guns are banned, has there been no shootings since 1996 and the crime rate is much lower?

The US will never ban guns. Americans are too gun-crazy to ever accept the idea. I can kind of see where they're coming from in terms of their arguments, but why do you have to access automatic weapons and almost military grade weapons? Isn't a hand gun enough?

ITT:
Europeans: Ban all the guns
Americans: Keep all the guns

Nope
The average European doesn't mind firearms being legal - there are millions of guns in most European nations, we are simply generally more pro-regulation.

What about the culture breeds psychopaths though as opposed to other cultures?

If we disagree, it's nothing personal, opinions are opinions.
Antagonizing me to build a false sense of worth is so damn cute.

Brighten your day with science.

"Navy seals didn't kill bin laden, guns did" said no one ever.

Guns are tools for killing. People kill people. And most of these shootings are caused by the shooter's mental instability.

Wow, just wow!

For the record, people will always kill people. It is simply how proficient they will be with the tools they can find. Guns will also always be obtainable to those who desire them.
