I have found an old collection of Lord of the Rings and wanted to watch them in order of when they happened. So which one is first? Google didn't help and just told me the production order

"Halo! Its divine wind will rush through the stars, propelling all who are worthy along the path to salvation."

I'm ppretty sure that The Hobbit is first.

"What are we holding on to, Sam?"
"That there's some good in this world, and it's worth fighting for."

*Sigh*

It's Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, The Return of the King.

"It is the cruelest fate, to have written words that meant well and see them made wicked and unwise. What was meant to encourage life, used instead to justify taking it."

The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, The Return of the King.

I know everything, I've just forgotten most of it.

Also, my XBL Gamertag is 'Wenggh', not 'A Stolen Fruit'.

The Hobbit
The Fellowship of The Ring
The Two Towers
The Return of The King

After only reading The Hobbit and now almost done reading The Fellowship of The Ring, I can say, that while the movies are amazing, the books are better.

The two books are better, because they have much more detail. And, have much more that they couldn't add in the movies. Those two books are quite amazing, in my opinion.

That may be true, but the books have a lot of padding in them. This means that Tolkien made this really awesome and well developed fantasy setting (which is excellent) but there's just SO MUCH STUFF.

The thing with the movies is that... it deviates so much from from the books and not a lot really happens. Often there's just a sweeping view of the beautiful scenery with epic music. And the movies are 3 hours long and yet they still leave out so much.
